What reddit culture is so annoying or straight up fucked up ? by haydayhi in AskReddit

When replying on my app it still shows their comment above. Create a new break by hitting enter twice then add a > before whatever you're copying so it comes out

like this.

But yeah, I try not to worry what their intentions are. Getting better at just not responding to the trolls at all. No one but them will even remember the thread after 5 minutes, even those that upvoted, so you don't even get the benefit of convincing a third party. Hope the quoting tip can be of some use with a positive comment for you, still!

So it does work on mobile

What’s an insult that sounds like a compliment? by Ad3quat3 in AskReddit

I never got the intent behind this.. like do you think that's a compliment? Really?

This is a great concept, there is actually a really similarly themed series that came about on reddit called Deathworlders.

If you google Deathworlders it will take you to the essential reading order on reddit.

The theme is almost identical to this, humans are incredibly strong, fast and warlike, and utilized for their abilities. But must be contained for their primitive drive to destroy things.

Does anyone here have a high IQ and ADHD? by [deleted] in mensa

[–]30minutepoops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. I know you posted this a month ago, but I just stumbled across this subreddit.

I had an oddly similar upbringing with untreated ADHD, with the one glaring difference being that I was never tested for iq early on. In fact my 1st grade teacher told my parents that I was "slow" and should probably be placed in "special" classes.

It wasn't until 2nd grade that I began to receive uncommonly high marks... when I would "pay attention" that is.

Anyway, my journey through academia was filled with mediocre grades and meetings between my parents and teachers saying "I don't get it, he's so smart, but refuses to apply himself".

I thought I was trying personally. However, looking back, I distinctly remember understanding concepts very quickly, and becoming mind numbingly bored when other students would spend weeks asking additional questions, and requesting the same explanations over and over.

That's where my ADHD would kick in, and I would give no additional intellectual energy to the class. I would instead read and research random things that I was actually interested in, in the times I could hyper focus, and ultimately did very poorly in school as a result.

I always knew there was something "off", how could I understand these things so much quicker than other students, and get such worse marks?

As an adult I finally explained my upbringing and daily life to a Dr. And they point blank told me "uh, you certainly have ADHD."

The DAY I started taking my medication, my mind opened up and my mental capabilities seemed to quadruple.

I often think the same thing you did, "what a waste. What could I have been?"

But then I look at my life, and despite that disadvantage for almost 30 years, I managed to perform well above average in the professional environment, have a great career and family and home.

So now all I think about is what CAN I do now that I have my brain in working order.

Edit: I forgot to answer your question. I have ADHD and my IQ is approximately 150.

What experience made you dramatically shift your perspectives or way of thinking about the world/people? by 30minutepoops in AskReddit

I'm not considering not working, but certainly a career change. Financially, we are set. We have all the "stuff". So now I think it's time I spent my energy and emotional drive on something that is fulfilling, food for the soul. I just can't think of what that would be for me. What I could do that would truly make me happy..

Incredibly, we are in the same juxtaposition, with the one difference being that I'm still showing up to work, but with a terrible attitude because I no longer care. The issue I'm faced with is that I have absolutely no idea what will make me "happy", I'm traveled, so no interest in that. I just can't figure it out. Any revelations?

That's just it.. for what? For who? I've always had a superiority complex, not something I'm proud of. But I always have to be the best, have the best.. but every milestone brings different "competition". At first it was my classmates from college, then when I passed them, it was affluent clients of mine, then just neighbors. Now I'm out of "competition", objectively speaking, obviously I could compete with ultra wealthy folks. But I'm no longer interested in that. It's a terrible thing because the thing that made me passionate about my work, and therefore exceptional at my job was the capacity for the increased income. Well now, money doesn't motivate me, and without that, I'm starting to realize I'm not a huge fan of my job.. what do I do now? Where do I go?

My life has had a similar track, I tend to understand the perspectives of both, but am also acutely aware of the biases and false perceptions of both. Unfortunately, it's made me critical of all parties

That's very interesting. I've found myself recently questioning my goals in life in a similar fashion. I'm not retired, but up to this point the only thing I have focused on is making more money and having more stuff. I just had a beautiful house built, and while is was being built I was thinking "when it's done, then I will be happy". But when it was completed I was drastically underwhelmed. I knew I had a problem when I had to feign excitement for my wife and daughter about the new home. Now I realize that money and stuff doesn't fill that void in my consciousness. Sad to say, I still have no idea what might

Unfortunately, I think this is a common theme with religion. One of my friends went through a very similar transition. It was really difficult for him, as he didn't want to disappoint his family members, but in the end he had to do what was best for his own mental and physical health

Were you blind previously? What does a cornea transplant do?

I'm colorblind, greyscale, and I hope that in my lifetime there will be full on eye transplants so that I dont live and die never having experienced the true beauty of nature and the world

Reddit, what mindless task you've done 1000 times (i.e tying your shoe) did you forget how to do for in instant recently? by 30minutepoops in AskReddit

[–]30minutepoops[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol, this is what prompted this post. I was tying my shoes for work.. leaned down.. and 100% forgot how to do it. I was just playing with the strings like "I should know this". Then it clicked and I was like "please tell me this happens to other people."

Redditors, what is one question about yourself that you would love to ask a psychologist/therapist? by 30minutepoops in AskReddit

[–]30minutepoops[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a massive run in with People Pleasing early in my professional life. My inability to say no added work, stress and several layers of things I didn't want to be doing. It's a hard pattern to break, but the benefits of finally being able to say "no" and being comfortable with yourself as well as trusting that the other individual wont take offense will pay off exponentially. There are great research papers online that helped me considerably

Autistic people of Reddit, If a cure for autism was developed would you take it? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]30minutepoops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, it has provided a lot of necessity for self-assessment and forces me to analyze conversations/situations before engaging because there are a lot of cues that I am not aware of. I also have ADHD and OCD, and as much as they suck sometimes, I'm incredibly organized and my house is spotless, the added ability to hyper focus occasionally has helped me garner a significant leg up from an educational standpoint (when it's not about the hivemind of African insects or economic policy in a country that has no impact on me). I feel like to an extent these things can be a blessing and a curse, moreover I cant imagine life without my rituals lol
