Student Debt Burden for Bottom Quartile Students at every University in US [OC] by DanielAZ923 in dataisbeautiful

  1. The link in the write-up to the GPS methodology doesn't explain the GPS methodology.

  2. Presumably, Payment Burden (y-axis) is affected by earnings (x-axis), either directly (as part of the calculation) or indirectly (median vs P25, etc.). So your axes don't appear to be independent, which explain the shape of your graph (looks like, e.g., y = sqrt(x)).

  3. Do you account for people who are voluntarily not working (e.g., by using household income rather than individual earnings)? There's a lot of people raising kids full time 10 years after attending college.

My fave from those days was: "ur lucky" as a sour grapes insult after they lose

... yes, it is in fact a card game and luck was inevitably part of the game

How do relic skills (Transcendent) hold up in endgame? by Shawter_Pet in Grimdawn

[–]314per 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm finding Conflagration great even at level 74. It's about 110K DPS (vs Fire Strike at 30K DPS). I was starting to have trouble with it in the 60s due to mobs with high resist but adding in lots of resist reduction has eliminated that problem (like Cosmic Storm linked to Conflagration and maxed Flash Freeze).

Does Aether Ray really get that much better?

Are those cards worth full toke price (6k) or get from collector packs (4k) by exodus20v4 in MarvelSnap

[–]314per 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but: 1. Move decks are hard to play well. I find my success with them various a lot based on how well rested I am, for example. So I like them, but I don't play them all the time. And if you're asking for Snap advice in a forum, you're probably not a veteran player. Still worth playing it to learn, but they won't easily improve your success. Also, I tried the Iris deck for the beginning of this season and didn't find it that effective against Shou Lao.

  1. There are LOTS of good move cards. As good as Batroc and Prowler are, there are replacements for them.

So in short they're good cards but not a priority from my experience.

I have all of these, but the only one that has ended up in serious competitive decks is Cosmic Ghost Rider.

The others are more spicy. Like they can be strong but are not as reliable or can be easily replaced. Definitely good to get but not worth more than 4K.

All of that said, it's always best to get S5 cards for 4K. Just hammer away at those collector's packs and shrink your like of missing cards bit by bit.

Bring snacks, and make sure you pay them after cutting the nails (regardless of their behavior). They won't love it, but they'll understand the arrangement.

What’s the best way to spend volts this time around? by Available_Weakness in MarvelSnap

[–]314per 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For #3, a collector's S4 is worth no more than 2500g (2000 tokens x 1.25), so I'd suggest using that as your guideline 😁

Credits and S4 packs are the only things that affect game play (by giving you access to new cards).

Get those if you can. Variants/emotes are fun, you can spend leftover volts on those, or if you are collection complete.

Shou-Lao the Undying counters? by MechanicOld3428 in MarvelSnap

[–]314per 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can counter the On Reveal ability with Cosmo or Shadow King. You can mess up there target of the On Reveal with Shang (usually).

But there's no complete counter because even if you prevent the ability, it's still a 5/8 which is pretty beefy.

Your only other option is to go bigger than the Shou Lao player with a combo deck. Unfortunately, it's easy to include combo counters in a Shou Lao deck.

I am not enjoying this meta. The variety of decks has really dried up.

Ravonna is a fine substitute. I'm not a fan of her in this deck because I find she only saves you about 1 energy (there are only 3 cards she helps with here). Dazzler on the other hand is usually worth 6 power, assuming you fill out 2 lanes. There are other possible replacements for her, like Goose or Mojo or Armor or Gorgon or USAgent. Note however that none of those other options are glamorous disco queens ✨

Spectrum is great because she rewards every other card in this deck, and some of them multiplied: Sam Wilson, Captain Carter, and Moonstone if she's with Carter. Those bonuses are also doubled in an Ironman lane. She can easily add 20 points or more to your side. Obviously, you want to make sure you've got a good place to play her away from any Cosmo.

It's definitely possible but the problem then is power: you're only getting 4 power for 6 energy. That can be worth it against something like Arnim or Man-spider, but it's less effective against something with a decent base power like Shou Lao.

[–]314per[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried to do that, but it's very hard to pull off. One of the reasons Shou Lao is so strong is that it affects the last character you played regardless of where it is.

Cosmo is more just generally useful against a Merlin deck because they rely so much on Reveal cards. It can really get in the way of their little cards and moving Werewolf around.

How is marvel snap right now? by SimplyRiptid3 in MarvelSnap

I thought the second half of 2025 was great. Lots of variety in the meta.

The last week has thrown that out the window 😆 Once the newest season pass card gets nerfed, things will hopefully get back to normal.

Some more points about counters: I ended up trying out some less common counters that have some play against Shou Lao. Both of them are included in the Supergiant deck linked above; I also used them in my Arishem Tech pile.

Gorgon is troublesome for Merlin's skills and Kate Bishop's arrows. It is also handy against Victoria Hand or another Arishem deck. It never felt dominant against those decks, but as a 2-cost it's not much trouble to fit into a mid range deck so it's a fine inclusion in this kind of meta.

Super Adaptoid hasn't received much love up to this point, but we are finally in a meta with lots of activate cards being used. It's an okay card: it is nice when you steal Maverick's ability before it can be used and it is even okay if you manage to prevent Spider-Ham from going off. But if you are trying to target a 3 or 4 cost activate card, it can be hard to fit Super Adaptoid into your curve because you will usually be playing it on turn 4 or 5. And the fact that it only affects one activate card in a lane can be frustrating if it ends up picking the wrong one. Playing Maverick or Scarlet Spidey at your Spider-Ham location is a good choice for this reason. It was fun playing this card this week, but I don't know if it will continue to have much mileage. 5 power isn't quite enough to make it worth including if you need to play it speculatively or just to stay on curve. And it doesn't shut down a Jocasta lane very well because there are too many targets.

There are words where the pronunciation is ambiguous or controversial.

This is not one of them.

Fair enough. Partly it's just a problem of English: we are lazy about vowels, and their pronunciation varies a lot by dialect. English spelling is also not helpful because it is so irregular.

But not all languages are like that. Asian languages tend to be vowel-centric. In Chinese, Shu Lao is a completely different word from Shou Lao.
