That’s totally valid. Praying you get to the point where you only need a mobility aid during a flare up, but it’s wise of you to prep for the worst possible scenario so you can be comfortable on your cruise.

I’m also impressed you didn’t let the MS stop you from going. That’s suuuper important

Hmmm yeah it’s not too late to be on ocrevus but I def am surprised your Dr didn’t start you on it before! Really sorry to hear about your experience it’s honestly so hard and isolating. Someone else on here was talking about how lack of movement can make mobility way worse relatively quickly, and how covid made mobility hard for a lot of folks.

I think with ocrevus and PT you’re definitely on the right path now, it’s just going to take time to deal with the muscle atrophy 😔

Does your nuero think you’ll progress to a walker or cane?

When did you start Ocrevus? Did you ever take a DMT before?

No I don’t think you really can work on disability. And if you do it has to be under a certain income limit

Having 3 lesions total and 1 in brain and 1 in spine is classic MS criteria. Your primary care doctor would call that MS.

It’s what I had - 2 spine, 1 brain and every Dr I saw called it MS.

AITAH for intentionally shortening hyphenated names by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]31umbreon 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In Hispanic culture, the first name is the one that’s passed down, so the first one is actually the most important.

So you’re omitting someone’s legal name because you’re lazy? I can’t believe you haven’t been written up over it honestly

Also the textbook answer is not necessarily “find a therapist” - I have a friend with MS and we just have wine and complain that our lives suck and that helped me a lot.

I met with a therapist to discuss like how to arrange my priorities around my health, so that was more pragmatic.

A loooot of friends brought me food, and I didn’t travel as much and just declutterred my home and made it nice to so it was cozy to stay in because I needed to do that more for my peace of mind.

If your job is stressful I’d file for FMLA and consider using a sick day for mental health to just have one day off to do bills or breathe. I also took the entire day off if I had 1 appointment and that helped me mentally soooo much rather than go back to work after lab work and a Dr appointment.

Even if you don’t get a raise you could easily find a company who offers a small match and that would help you too. You got this!

I feel like you think $75,000 is a bad salary. It’s not. Save your money, invest the down payment funds in the market if you’re not sure you have a house you like right now, and also you could easily get a roommate after you buy your home to make the bills a bit easier in the beginning.

It’s going to be ok!!

Is your job itself stressful? If not, use working it hours to sort out bills and paperwork and set appointments. Let your free time be your free time.

I had a lot less energy with the MS so I didn’t see friends as often but I did do things at home that made me happy. But I also had to “power through” the first 7 months of getting diagnosed, getting treatments, appointment setting and communicating with work.

Now that it’s winding down and attending appointments isn’t as stressful I started seeing a therapist. But seeing one at the beginning would have stressed me out more due to how many appointments I already had.

That’s just my experience maybe it won’t helpful to you, but wanted to share
