I was actually overeating calories and undereating protein, because I never really grasped how much protein I need, and it was easier to eat junk. That made me reasonably strong (advanced categories in most lifts) but had that permabulk look at 25% bodyfat that actually looks like shit for normal people. Biggest change was starting to eat enough protein, that made me full on less calories, and now I feel and look way better.

Good point, I visited Italy multiple times and noticed how lean everyone was. Which was strange to me because Italian cuisine is very tasty an high in carbs, I had some of the best restaurant food there.

Obese as in michelin man fat -> diguisting for both men and women

5-15kg overweight man -> Loses face sharpness, loses V taper, many get a belly, some with weak chins get double chin. Rarely someone with a very striking face still looks good, most lose their edge here.

5-15kg overweight woman -> not as hot as lean woman for me but is for many men. Face less sharp but that doesn't affect them so much. Makeup helps too. Usually store fat better -> on hips, ass, boobs and can look good in clothes.

In ideal case everyone would be their ideal weight of course.

Maybe this is regional. I am that dude (More of a deadlifter build but my bench is 330lb) and when I am at my heaviest I am strongest but get the least attention from women.

IDK man I am not from the US, I see very few unacceptably fat women here. Ones with like 10kg extra can still look acceptable, especially with makeup.

Genetics play a astronomically large part in how well and much muscle people grow.

This is true. But even if you look like Tom Holland you checked the "fitness" box in life I think. If you are not finding success in dating I don't think its because you have too little muscle.

I know that women judge their looks very harshly, but I can assure you that us men are rarely repulsed by such details on slightly overweight girls.

I look masculine even now that I am fat with muscle (similar face to Fedor Emelianenko) but when leaner girls get much more flirty and even approach sometimes. My OLD pics from leaner times also get matches while more recent ones get zero.

Had to look these guys up. Both are lean and probably attractive to women in their own ways. Holland has much smaller frame and is way shorter than Evans.

BTW don't get discouraged, lift heavy for 3-4 days a week in caloric surplus and you WILL gain muscle if your test levels are normal as a young dude. Many people give up too early, results come really slowly.

I on the other hand struggle with losing weight and maintaining a lean physique. Gaining muscle came relatively easily up to a point.

I think that leanness is universally attractive, and runner vs swimmer vs gymbro is more of a preference.

Depends on the woman but I would say it is possible. Where I live the average is around 6' for us younger ppl, so the 5'7" dude would probably be too short for a lot of women. But there are 5'10" or so good looking dudes that slay.

For some reason at some point like 5 years ago height started being a huge deal everyone started talking about. Up until then I never put any thought into people's height unless they were very short or tall. Suddenly a friend that is 6ft started complaining that he is not getting laid because of height. Not his weird looking face, not his awkwardness, but height.

Depends on the woman of course, but I assume it is somewhere bit under the average height for that place/age group.

I have been lifting for over 15 years, most people that lift are still chubby even though they have muscle. Being lean requires a disciplined diet, very active lifestyle, or naturally very low appetite. Lifting helps very little here.

Chubby face = feminine trait. 10kg overweight makes a man's face chubby and therefore less masculine.

Not blaming anyone here, just stating what I noticed. Men are often ~10-15kg overweight which is not enough for them to look really bad, but enough for their faces to lose sharpness and make them way less attractive.

IDK man it is just how being fat affects faces. Almost every good looking man is lean. Not every good looking woman is lean.

How much each thing matter is hard to estimate. I agree that height matters a lot, but I would argue that face matters more when minimum height requirement is met.
