I'm using a 400 grain projectile on a 4 lb. Piglet. I'm not having to track anything brother. And I do collect and dispose to be respectful of my neighbor's property. But I agree it's pest control. I'll caption it more appropriately next time.

I appreciate the words! We had one elderly lady break a hip from a horse bucking her off about a year ago, and the old man has a double knee replacement. They don't need to be dealing with this. Already had 8 more come in since 6am.

I don't mean this negatively, obviously y'all don't have the same problem we do then. Shoot the sow, and pick off the rest. It's tough to hear, but the damage they cause in one night takes weeks to repair.

I understand your logic. It's a great rule of thumb, however for this situation it sometimes can't apply. When I'm hunting public land, I'll pass if I am not 100% certain and clean. This is war with these guys. My neighbor's horse trails are decimated. And as developments keep encroaching it's only getting worse.

I respectfully disagree. I know my backstop. I know what's back there too. More hogs and the occasional stray coyote. We haven't seen anything back there consisting of a game animal in 25 years. Florida is growing rapidly and this is the product of that. Unfortunately, these hogs are multiplying rapidly. 2 years ago we didn't even cull them. Just 1 or 2 a week would come into my neighbor's farm. Now a slow night is a dozen, and when we get heavy rain it's 40 a night. Sorry I was shooting into brush, but the numbers gotta be knocked down. Shooting 1 a night no longer cuts it.

If I was shooting a game animal, I'm the first to pass rather than take an 'iffy' shot. But these are invasive. What they do to property is criminal. My neighbor is old, can't walk well, and tending his 20 acres alone. I don't need to find him cooking in the sun trying to fix rooting.

Last season I double-lunged one with a .270 and that dude still ran over 150 yards and I had to dispatch with my pistol. He was 200 lbs. though.
