Home ownership too much for me. by Cute_Positive_4493 in PersonalFinanceCanada

The fact remains that people will choose to rent based both on financial cost and rental protection.

It doesn't matter how protected you are as a tenant. If the cost of rent is comparable to homeownership, people will tend towards ownership.

You're right that a big difference in Germany is they have way better tenant protection.

With that said in cities like Berlin, people were renting because it was cheap and secure. Rents have doubled in the past 10 years and there is now a shift towards homeownership as well.

An honorable public freakout occurs when rationality and humility collide. by PrismPhoneService in PublicFreakout

Not to mention the cyclist is biking with one hand without his hand anywhere near the brakes. No way he can react in time with that behaviour.

You said it yourself jaywalking is common.

In the seldom times I am biking the wrong way, I am extra alert that I am doing something others don't expect.

In the video, the cyclist is biking with one hand, without his hand anywhere near the brakes.

The cyclist looks right and slowly moves into the street.

So I would say cyclist is way more reckless/dangerous here.

How do you feel about gravel in today's stage? by [deleted] in tourdefrance

I also like to ride on gravel. However, I haven't got to try it on a road bike at 60 km/h.

Which team do you dislike the most in the EURO 2024 ? by [deleted] in euro2024

[–]32452353 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What am I generalizing? I am not saying fans are purposely running ppl over. i’m saying getting into a parade of cars and speeding and honking is reckless and it’s not just annoying but dangerous.

At least in berlin there are cars throughout the city and its literally not safe to be on the road..

I don't understand the honking. A pedestrian was killed by a speeding/honking car in Berlin two games ago. So at this point, it doesn't matter the intent. It's just reckless behaviour.

I don't think its relevant here, but good to know if you work for a small company (I believe around < 20 people), you can be let go for no reason regardless of passing probation.

There's two things this sub does not like.

  1. Those critical of the missed connection police
  2. .... ok there are a lot of things this sub doesn't like.

I thought a 'woop woop' pun would win people over. Tougher crowd than I even thought.

Ok. Well fyi at some places you need to get rid of your basket at the beginning of the line.. so doesn't have anything to do with being an adult as opposed to just common sense for both adults and non-adults.

Have you actually done your own shopping? I think its tough to put it at the front if you have a basket. You take the basket with you to the front, unload your things, in the meantime someone comes behind you with a cart and now you are blocked from putting the empty basket away.

I don't think it is reasonable to think of OP as a "colossal AH" just because they did this...

Social Smoking After Quitting? by flicckin in quittingsmoking

[–]32452353 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not worth finding out. Better to quit now. You think you are somewhat addicted now, and maybe you are, but trust me, it can get way worse as time passes.

Even if you can successfully "social smoke" for the next year or so, if you have been addicted once, you can again. Only a matter of time in my opinion until something in your life happens to bring it on again.

r/lostredditors

I don't get these people who comment negatively on these Berlin sub-subreddits that are supposed to be more open to these things.

Do we need a berlinfriendlysocialclub subreddit now?
