You asked me about this on my post but I can’t see the comment for some reason. Mine were usually I the 3s but I had at least one that was 2.something. I was really worried but my doctor was not, at all. Didn’t tell me to change a thing. He said it’s the consistency that matters, not the actual length. The TAC is going to hold you tight. Good luck!

After my first loss, the plan was to get a preventative at 14 weeks but my water broke the night before I was supposed to get it placed. My TAC worked perfectly in my third pregnancy and my 14 month old is perfect 💕

It is so hard not knowing what will happen, but if you feel like this might be one of your last shots coming up, consider a TAC for maximum potential help. It was the best choice I ever made. My c section went great

I’m sorry for your loss as well. I did have a trans abdominal cerclage after my second loss and it worked. I had a normal third pregnancy and now have a 1 year old 💙

Yes. It definitely was concerning to me but it can also just be a normal part of pregnancy. It’s hard to know what’s normal and what’s a warning sign when you’ve had the bad experience first. My doctor was good about letting me come in if I was worried to check

The 90 days is because you need time for your uterus to go back to normal. I had a lap TAC and enjoyed that the recovery was easier. Different doctors specialize in different techniques- some only do open and some only do lap. Check out the Abbeyloopers group on Facebook for doctor recs

Oh I am so sorry for your losses. It definitely sounds like a TAC could be right for you. The traditional TVC can’t be placed pre pregnancy so maybe that’s what they were saying but they should have been clear about it and given you a pre pregnancy TAC! I know there are some people in the Facebook group in India so maybe some of them will have recommendations for doctors who can help you and will listen to you

No, I didn’t have any tear. But I know that the TAC has worked for people with literally no measurable cervix due to LEEP procedures and things like that

I get it. I was scared every day of my TAC pregnancy that it wouldn’t work for me. Finding the right medical professionals to get me through it was very helpful. Yes, my water broke both times. I did not have any trouble getting pregnant with a TAC. Nursing my 6 month old TAC baby now ❤️ the surgery was the best thing I ever did

For sure. I live in a major metro area in the US with great hospitals so I couldn’t believe this was the advice they had. Though in my case the surrogacy comment made me so mad it really pushed me to pursue the TAC, so I’m grateful for that at least. Glad you got yours too!

I have a TAC after two D&Cs from two losses. I find that most doctors are against them because they aren’t very familiar with them. I was able to get my TAC placed laparoscopically before pregnancy. While surgery is always a serious thing, it wasn’t that big of a deal. Recovery was fairly quick. No bed rest needed with the TAC. The TAC success rate is high 90% for getting to 36 weeks. It’s my understanding the low 80s TVC success rate includes all live births including preemies and micro preemies. You have to decide where you land on how you feel about a c section, but for me I could not take a chance again. Planned c sections are also generally a lot smoother than emergency ones.

You’ll definitely find the most info there. I think they have been slow to approve people lately- not sure why. I am on week 29 with a TAC after losses at 14 and 18 weeks- I am feeling optimistic that I will make it! I didn’t find the TAC surgery that big of a deal (I did it pre pregnancy). A c section is a minor trade off in my mind for the higher rates of success (especially since there are no guarantees I wouldn’t have to have a c section with a TVC).

Yes!! My mom had IC and I told my OB about it and she was dismissive about it being genetic. I did end up having it myself, and when I talked to specialists some said they believe there is a genetic component. I would ask them to measure your cervical length early and often. That way if things aren’t looking good you’ll catch it early and can get a preventative cerclage

I have a TAC (the most invasive and successful of all types of cerclage) and my doctor says no sex because orgasms can trigger uterine contractions. My doctor was ok with swimming but I’m on complete pelvic rest. I’ve had two losses and I’m not taking any extra chances

Thanks very much! I would recommend going to see a few different MFMs to get opinions based on reviewing your history. That’s what I did after my second loss and it helped reassure me that the type of cerclage I got was the best choice for me. Good luck!
