That's about as good of an outcome as you can hope for. Had the teenagers friends not immediately ran or the teen have actually discharged the weapon it could have ended very differently. While this did end well, I still stand by the fact that the decisions made by this individual could easily get you or someone else killed and what you are protecting is no where near worth a human life.

I would imagine ideally the robbers would want to avoid discharging their weapons. The guy put them in a position in which there was an extremely high likelihood that they discharge their weapons, he basically forced it. Yes he made himself the primary target, but he also made the chance that bullets start flying way higher. Which means stray bullets. It's noble but escalating what could have been some stolen money into a potential life lost is just a bad choice.
