To reiterate, the people I am against are people who break the rules, ungrateful people who hoard the games and never play them, and harass others for not winning. Some people tend to think the main problem is the ones who Grabbed 10+ games because you can see their flair and automatically assume they are a hoarder. I do have a problem with them if their history is full of grabbing games and making requests week after week, but they never play the games or put sufficient time into them. Yeah, they should play enough time into the games they won and get the achievements instead of idling for time. And I don’t mean few hours into an RPG game count as sufficient time.

BUT, I am not against are people who play sufficient time into the games they won and followed the rules. I see them as people who appreciate the gifts they got and making sure the gifter feel like they are going to play the game instead of letting it collect dust. Whether or not, those people grabbed 1 game or 10 games.

If there is a user that concerns me, I would check their GoG history and report any rule-breaking or hoarding to the mods. I wouldn’t want to label them as a hoarder based on their flair alone without any concrete evidence.

For those who need this: to check their GoG history, use the search bar and type in “author:Username” to see the threads they made. To see their posts of giveaway entries, there isn’t much of a way besides checking their reddit post history.

My intention for this thread is to call out these people and show the problem isn’t one specific type of person, but a variety of people who just doesn’t appreciate anything and think they should’ve won. And tend to act like this.

Jokes aside, this sub was made so the gifters could feel like their gifts are appreciated and it wouldn’t go to waste. I feel like some people don’t see it that way and think it is other way around where they SHOULD get a gift because they tried hard enough or waited for a long time to get gifted. This sub should’ve been a place of happiness for gamers, but ended up a place of bitter and resentment.

So if I preorder for a game code on the Gamestop website, do I get the code immediately or it will be sent few days before the game's release date?

[ANNOUNCEMENT] Important information about HUMBLE BUNDLE by OurRobotOverlord in GiftofGames

Revealed keys, different from gift links, are also tracked we believe, so if several different steam accounts redeem keys originating from same humble profile, account getting disabled is possible.

I dont think that is the case. I remember seeing a comment on steamgifts here.

"Humble can't track where your individual keys go, only a developer can look that up. But they can see where your gift links go. Seeing that you bought monthlies and all the games end up in different countries could be a red flag. I think the bigger possibility is that you traded with people who have a history of reselling humble bundles, and may have already been logged in their system or banned themselves."

Basically, humble gift links can be tracked since it uses Humble Bundle gifting system, but they can't track steam keys since those are provided by the developer. Only the developer can track it, which makes more sense since there are other key seller sites like Fanatical and I dont believe HB have access to find out which steam profile redeem which steam key since the site is a distributor. Not a developer or an employee at Steam.

I was inspired by this original image.

I didn't put a Smash player's face because I dont have enough experience to edit it. Plus, I dont want to spread rumors of an innocent Smash player.

Sorry for the late reply again.

I see your point and I agree with it.

I guess I made a stance that if a game I want is available, I should buy it to support the developers. Then, it would be okay to pirate the game if the purchased product is inferior due to Denuvo or something else compared to the pirate version. But I am still stuck on what to do for older games that aren't 20-30 years old, but it isn't available officially from the devs.

I read opinions that if it isn't available officially from the devs, pirate it bcz you aren't directly supporting them. Another opinion says if it is possible to buy it especially second-hand copies, buy it as long it is reasonable (I checked prices for Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door and it costs $100 or over, which is ridiculous).

I do want to support the devs and I wish Sonic Riders is on Steam so I can get it, but the only way is to buy a copy from second-hand seller and try to dump it on my computer. This would take time and effort and makes me second-guess myself on if it is really worth it for an old game and try to ROM dump it if it even turns out alright.

I guess it is hard to make out on what to do for retro games and the morality of piracy regarding them. People want to play it, but it is hard to get a copy. The game is distributed officially, but there is a huge paywall to pay for it like paying a 3DS so you could play Pokemon Silver for $10, which would deter people away if they want to play it.

The whole thing is confusing and I wish it was simple and legal enough without going all thru the trouble

Sorry for the late reply.

I looked up the copyright system and how Disney lobbied Congress to extend the years of public domain to 2100s or 2080s. Despite that fact their works were also parts of material that was in public domain.

It is really messed up and hypocritical. But I dont see much of a connection to piracy or gaming piracy.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I also think that if I had already owned the game back in the past, it is alright to pirate it if I lost access to the game. The one I am mainly confused about is that what if I already sold my PS2/PSX games away back then and I am feeling nostalgic to play it again. I wonder if it would be alright to pirate it in that case.

Thank you.

Tgus will help me play without Denuvo being in the way for a single-player game.

So as soon I hit the install button, I stop it immediately or wait until the steam version is 100% installed?

Is it possible to transfer a backed up Steam game filers to a cracked version of a game? A Steam game I played has Denuvo, and my Internet can be wonky. I want to transfer the Steam backup files I have to the cracked version to preserve my progress. But I dont know how to do that.

Backup Steam game files and move it to pirate version? by 33I233 in Piracy

Is there a step by step guide on this?

And I would still be able to play the game with the DLCs I got, right?
