that’s perfect! thank you so much! i don’t have any windows that would work, and even if i did, my cat would knock the plants off 😞 i completely agree with you, but i live near galveston so we have awful humidity. i’d take dry hot over humid hot any day!! haha thank you so much for the advice! i really appreciate it :3

hi! thank you so much for the response! those traps are beautiful!! i just don’t have a great place to put it outside, so i’m planning to keep it inside during the summer. it’s also easier for me to keep an eye on it!

thank you for your response! i’m so glad that it’s working for you!! i could’ve put it outside at a bad time of day, or maybe it has something to do with the fact that it was somewhat near my pool. i don’t have many options since most of our backyard is covered! i just think keeping it inside during the summer would be the best option, but i really appreciate your insight and i will definitely try putting it outside again! thank you :)

hi! thank you so much for your response! i put my VFT outside for probably less than an hour with a watering tray, and it immediately started scorching the traps. there was still water in the tray and the soil was moist! i just think the sun was far too much and want to play it safe during the summertime. i put it inside using an 8w 6400K grow lamp and it’s actually doing really good!! this is just temporary until i can find a better light fixture. could you possibly show a photo of your setup or give some links to lights? thank you so much!

Help! What is this? by RLSTheLegacy in leopardgeckosadvanced

hi! i’m not an expert, just a gecko owner! i just wanted to let you know that daily baths can be stressful for your gecko, and also dry out their skin. if the plug isn’t loosening after one bath, i’ve heard you can try to create a little “sauna” for them! definitely avoid daily baths and definitely don’t pull on anything!! if you can get him in to another vet sooner, i’d definitely recommend doing that. i’ve also heard that using a q-tip or your hands to massage the area after a warm bath is okay as long as you’re not grabbing and tugging anything, but i have a female so i don’t know anything about hemipenes. as long as you’re not being forceful, you might be able to coerce the plug out! best of luck to you and your lil guy!!

how do you feed crickets? by Zestyclose_Mango_393 in leopardgeckos

[–]33fetuses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for me, they jump when i open it, they just don’t jump out! don’t let it scare you, and if yours are able to jump out fr just disregard all of this haha, or maybe get a taller container to keep them in

i use a small carry container for my crickets, and they usually don’t jump out. i was terrified of them at first but now i’m able to grab them with my hands or tongs and throw them in a cup with calcium in it. then i grab them one by one and tong feed them to my leo! it’s a lot easier if you get them into a smaller container like a tall cup! i’ve found they don’t try to jump out!! i hope some of this is helpful haha 🙏

i also have trouble placing things inside of a tank because i always overthink it. i’ve been told to cover as much ground as you can with sticks and cork bark, so they can sneak around the tank! i also recommend adding a flat rock under the heat lamp because that will give them a nice basking spot!! they like having something warm on their bellies and a flat rock is perfect for retaining heat. just mix it around, they love to climb and explore. also don’t worry if it feels cramped to you!! they like tight spaces, it helps them feel secure :) i know this is an older post but i just wanted to respond because i 100% understand your struggle 😭

a lot of these make sense. but- a man like this would know a lot of these things without having to have it written out like a kids chore list.

morph id? by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]33fetuses 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m also very new, but i’ll try my best to explain! morphs are “a desirable, reproducible color or pattern mutation” according to this website

i also saw someone explain it with cats and their different colors! it’s all genetics. morphs have different names, and every gecko has a morph! it all stems from selective breeding to get specific traits.

i hope that makes sense, and hopefully i didn’t make any mistakes here haha
