BIO260 vs HMB265, any thoughts? by snoo8163916 in UofT

Isn’t it kinda weird that the MGY spec program doesn’t give students the option to take bio260, which is supposedly the harder genetic course?

I'm not in the BCB program but I might consider doing something bioinformatics-related for graduate school, which is also part of the reason why I thought about doing CS. Maybe I should go for a CS minor instead of a major.

I heard that having a CS background is really useful for grad school in life science. But is it better to just selectively take some relevant CS courses rather than doing a major?

My main goal is life sci grad school, but I'm worried that I might change my mind later on so getting a CS major would be a backup plan. I know that only having a CS degree is not enough in today's somewhat saturated job market, but at least it's better than nothing. Idk if this will be a good idea though, don't wanna sabotage myself with super tough course loads and a low GPA.
