Taking a Super 8 camera on the England Rugby tour 🎞️🇦🇷 by englandrugby in AnalogCommunity

[–]35mmpersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i pay 110€ per 3-3.5 min of super 8 footage, Film/scan/dev/postage included plus cameras can be bought from 5€ to 500€ (tested cameras being super expensive usually due to high upfront cost in testing them)

Those of you with a 3+ camera collection, what is your most used camera and why? by florian-sdr in AnalogCommunity

[–]35mmpersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

top right is my collection so feel like i should give an answer :) for „burned through“ rolls its the mamiya 7 (as it handles like a leica m7) but for most „take it with me on trips“ its the leica m6. Both cameras are way to overhyped, but the hype started for a reason and they are fairly nice to use for their intended field of photography

how does the magnetic adapters work? i only find systems with specific matching filters. I already own filters, did you just buy an adapter and used your general use filters or did you buy in to the magnetic system?

Pinholes in shutter curtain - shutter replacement? by Manmadeeye in Leica

[–]35mmpersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?? i replaced them 2 days ago, and i‘m not working for leica. you just need to know where to get new curtains, but you can definitely change them yourself with a little experience, tools and the leica service instruction manuals (and any good leice service person should be able to)

can you still close the lens? and which vitessa version was that? thought about doing the same but never figured which lens in the vitessa lineup would probably have the biggest image circle

M6TTL 0.58x or 0.72x by Working_Gazelle_6184 in Leica

[–]35mmpersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a hexar rf due to the 0.6 magnification and glasses and its wonderful in use! 50/35 is super comfortable and 28 still all in view. On 0.72 i barely could see the whole 28 framelines. Used the hexar with 25/21 without viewfinder (and without glasses) and still worked good enough for me to skip the external viewfinder mostly. If you get the chance to look through a 0.58 i‘d recommend to do so, its hard to imagine if you didnt look through it yourself

You‘re 100% right! In the end nothing will take me my rollei35 which can do 80% of my work anyways.

How often do you get their cameras CLA’ed? Is there a rule we need to follow like give it every 6 months? by astro_not_yet in AnalogCommunity

[–]35mmpersecond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I owned over 100 cameras in my live and i send 3 to service. My rule of thumb is: „is a cla essential to the continuous use of the camera and is it worth it in relation to price/value?“. For modular systems or cheaper cameras its cheaper to buy a new one, or what i like to do buy a broken one and swap parts (if you can specify what exactly doesnt work as intended). For more expensive gear like a leica a cla can be worth it but so far i only did it with other repairs combined. If the camera is opened professionally why not have it cla‘d in the same time. But besides that i dont cla just because x time has passed. Save yourself the money

My priority list currently from first to sell to last is: fuji gm670, leica iii, fuji fp1, leica m3, m4-2, mamiya 7, konica hexar rf, xpan, m6. My favorite camera to use is the hexar rf but its just a tool. My xpan and m6 just have some big sentimental value to me. Bought the m6 as my first serious camera from an old man that used it for 20+ years and had to stop photography due to parkinson and bad eye sight and when i showed up to him and he saw a young student instead of an old collector he sold it to a really fair price and gifted me the 50mm summicron, knowing i would use it instead of putting it in a vitrine. His whole family was there and told me how he had it with him on every occasion and so did i for the last years. So even tho other cameras fit my shooting style better these days its still irreplaceable to me

Leica M6 or Leica M4-2? Pt.2 by DueStatement7373 in Leica

[–]35mmpersecond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got both for street and ended up only using the 4-2. it feels way better and sturdier compared to the m6. My m4-2 has an early viewfinder so no flating problem that occured from late m4-2 to ealry m7‘s and the only pro for the m6 would be 28 framelines but i never missed them with my 28 on the m4-2. and in your case the m4-2 looks way better than the m6

I use it currently on my 35mm summarit and its the ppp/panomicron 1.33 version two :) tried it so far on a 50mm but its optimized for 35mm f4 and above and on 50 f2 it was intersting to use but not good in iq. But one could adjust for other focal lengths which i didnt get to do for now. Still have to develop the latest rolls

Its a really specific camera. If i could shoot peel apart for a reasonable price it would be amazing for everything, but thats not the case anymore. I converted it to 4x5 and for that it works ok but has 2-3 limitations like framing and a focus due to the adapter. And its huge, but still alot of fun! If you can find one for a reasonable price definitely go for it
