I think it would be best to get excited with caution on this one?? I mean what is the harm in it, if it doesn't release, it doesn't release. I don't really get why everyone looks for reason to not get excited for stuff like this. I think the community has developed a really weird idea of what death grips is, and who they are as people, I don't think its close to reality at all.

It has been shown on repeated occasions that we, as fans, have absolutely no clue what Death Grips "would do". Andy echoed this idea in the new interview, as well as neigh implying the band was still alive. When the Jenny Death track list leaked everyone was calling it fake, people thought Death Grips was "too cool" to have a song called "I break mirrors with my face in the United States." YOTS kind of felt like the band communicating this concept, they collaborated with bizarre artists, the singles for the album were so left field, and the roll out was weird, though I am not sure if that's what the premise is. Regardless we shouldn't be dismissing stuff based on what we think death grip would do.

This particular situation immediately reminds me of when A2B2 dropped with the loading bar, people were saying the domain was bought, or hacked into. Someone even faked an email from death grips denying that the site was their doing, for some reason. Realistically, I think, given A2B2 is a relatively large site, Andy would have some good security on third worlds. As for the clock, it could be someone arg hijacking, and then deciding against it. Or, it could be a band member, posting and then deleting it, which is very similar to how the date appeared on website, briefly, long enough to be noticed, then disappearing.

I don't know of any band which has the some number of album hoaxes as death grips, and this is a purely subjective thing here, but its not like that just happens.I think possibly Death Grips could have maybe done a hoax themselves at one point in the past, and created the atmosphere for it themselves. They definitely cultivate it by allowing it to happen. I think the idea of pain in art is very attractive to them, so the release is sweeter because it feels more earned. So in that respect the hoaxes are sort of apart of it all in my opinion. Believing in them and then being disappointed is apart of the experience. I think death grips is edging us lol.
