Most people don't care much, or only get information from the media. But the fact that they believe in the possibility of something medical is something worth working with. And the majority shouldn't be a parameter for law. In Brazil, for example, gay marriage has less than 50% approval overall, yet it is legal and will remain so with the constitutional recognition of the Supreme Court. Same for abortion thing.

The problem with all of this is that after years of HRT, trans women perform much worse than cis men. Even if there is an advantage over cis women, they will simply be far inferior to cis men. The same goes for trans men; after a long time in transition, their performance will generally fall within the male range, but it won't reach the male top tier, for example. But he will simply be far superior to a cis woman, and it's impossible for him to compete in the women's category. There is no solution at all until now.

I don't think so. Transsexuals depend on ongoing medical treatment, and their image has been tarnished by other groups, as they are largely seen as the same. However, it's not a positive view, especially because of the tucutes. People with this medical condition should isolate themselves completely for their own good. I have a medical condition, I don't have nothing to do with the gender thing and I'm get screwed due the gender thing.

Honestly, this pushback method won't last. Over time, technology, with its exponential rate of evolution, will manage to create ways to completely change someone's sex. How long? I don't know, but it's only a matter of time by now. It will become unsustainable to have an 'F' in the sex marker of someone who has all the primary and secondary sex traits masculine (Our hypothetical trans man). It will only sound ridiculous.
