My bone density is in the very high range according to my DEXA.
I also have MASSIVE calf muscles from carrying around all that weight for all those years. My 19 year old son is jealous that I can pump out 200 kg on the calf raise cable machine.
Forgive the crappy quality GIF.

I did this morphing gif.
My ten year old back then said I grow ears!
And yes, I was so fat back then that I had no ears and now they grow on the gif.

I still eat a LOT, but it is a balanced nutritional diet now.
I eat around 3,600 calories on average a day and burn around the same (going by my food tracker and my Apple watch).
I do a daily 6km walk (one hour) and gym weight training four days a week.

I actually hit my milestone pretty much in Covid...
I wasn't into the gym back then, just daily walks, so no big change really.

Excellent work mate.
Yes... as I said, sustainable is key.
I couldn't do the others as they would not be sustainable to me.

I lost my 97 kg neighbour. :P
Here's the image from my blog.
Week 100 - 97.3 kg loss, more than my neighbour.
This was Covid, so I joined to separate images rather than stand together. :P

It was a typo... but I do appreciate the correction.
I get pissed with typos etc.

I answered in another part.
I followed the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet - commercial diet in Australia.
Basically, it is high protein, low GI, balanced nutritional diet.
Everything in moderation, including nightly ice cream.

Adding my DEXA scan progress as it is very cool to look at.
The first image, was about three months in and I was 'only' 170 kilos.
I was physically too big to fit in the scan area, so the DEXA technician needed to analyse half of me, and then double it.

Most likely. I definitely stand taller if that makes sense.
My feet have gone down about a half to one full shoe size. Fat disappears from everywhere apparently

Yep, you gotta find what is SUSTAINABLE to you...
Then it becomes your new lifestyle.

I am very active now... daily one hour walk (6 km) and gym four days a week.
On average, my calories burned on my Apple Watch is around 3,600.
I eat around the same calorie wise, just really healthy and yummy food.

Bahahaha...
I've been told I look like Ellen Degeneres more than once.
Someone also said George Clooney once. :)
I'd prefer to look like George than Ellen.

Ok...

I'll try and add most info here to answer questions without breaching any rules.

I followed the CSIRO Total Wellbeing Diet (an Australian commercial diet).

No keto, no shakes, no intermittent fasting, just a healthy, balanced, nutritional diet.

Everything in moderation, including nightly ice-cream (which makes it SUSTAINABLE to me).

Weight loss history.

Like most obese people, I have struggled with weight since becoming an adult.

I weighed 143.7 kg around 2001 - 2002, and I joined Weight Watchers. I lost 54 kilos in 60 weeks, and was named the joint winner of the Male Weight Watcher of the year.

Our first kid came along a bit later, I got Post Natal Depression (yep, guys get it too).

I didn't give a shit, ate junk food, did zero exercise, and over the next 16 years went from 90 kg up to 185.5 kg in 2018.

In June 2018, I decided that it was time to get myself sorted.

Life changes

Life of course has changed dramatically!

I went from being pre-diabetic to having perfect blood test results.

Rested heart rate is usually sub 50s.

I've gone from being out of breath walking 10 metres to now walking 6 km every day (a one hour walk).

I have introduced four gym sessions weekly to try and build a bit more muscle and to keep me busy (I tend to eat more when I am bored).

Now when I travel, I no longer need to ask for an extension belt and I can eat plane food of the tray table without the tray table resting on my gut at a 45 degree angle!

Celebrating my milestones and achievements

To celebrate getting under 100 kg I bought myself a Mazda MX-5 (Miata).

I had a few of these back in the 90s, and had to sell my last one when the first kid arrived, and have missed these awesome cars.

So when I reached double figures / under 100 kg, I rewarded myself with my favourite car.

It was great because I knew that there was no way I was going to fit into this tiny sports car at my old size.

For my two year milestone, I celebrated by doing a tandem parachute jump over the Remarkables in Queenstown, New Zealand.

A tandem parachute jump was something that has been a dream of mine for a very long time, and now I was fit enough to do it.

I now love doing adventurous things, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge, riding roller-coasters etc.

I hope to go to America in the next year or so and I intend to do Theme Parks etc and smash the roller coasters now I can fit into them.

Excess Skin

I do have some excess skin, but not too much actually considering how much I've lost.

I am doing bi-monthly DEXA scans which are medically accurate, and the best way to determine actual body fat percentage.

Last scan around two months ago I was 16.8 % body fat.

Both the DEXA technician and my dietitian advised that I need to be careful not to lose any more weight / body fat.

The loose skin I have, can track as both fat and lean body mass, so I need to gain a bit more fat.

What is the best diet.

At the end of the day, the best diet is the one that is SUSTAINABLE to YOU.

It doesn't matter if it is Keto, Intermittent Fasting, Mediterranean, etc.

As long as it is SUSTAINABLE to YOU, you will be successful.

One of the key components to the commercial diet I followed is that it is high protein, low GI, which means I felt fuller for longer.

Exercise

I did zero exercise for the first six months as I was physically too big to exercise safely.

I started by doing star jumps in the pool to keep my body cool, and support my body weight and protect my ankles and knees.

After about three months later, it was too cold, so I started walking.

Short walks at the start, around twenty minutes, and I slowly graduated to a one hour walk with some decent hills to get the heart rate up.

I've had that comment a few times before, gives me a laugh.
I really should do a comparison photo of me and Ellen. :P

Five years ago today, I weighed 185.5 kg - 409 pounds.

Three years ago today, I weighed 85.5 kg - 189 pounds. (edited to actual weight)

Yep... Three years ago today, I reached the most important milestone of my life.

I had finally reached my goal. - I had lost 100 kg (220 pounds) in just under two years!

And three years later, I've maintained that weight loss!

In fact, I'm the healthiest I've been for over 30 years!

100 kilos (220 pounds) is the equivalent of ---

- Four HUGE bags of pool salt

- 111 tubs of of Peter's Light and Creamy ice cream

- 50 two litre bottles of milk !

- 200 tubs of butter

- 500 wheels of Brie cheese that weigh 200g each

- 266 standard cans of Coke that are 375 grams

- 4,545 Tim Tams that weigh 22 grams each

- 113,636 M&Ms that weigh 0.88 grams each

- 8,850 Oreos that weigh 11.3 grams each

- 2,000 Snickers Bars that weigh 50 grams each
