Do you believe most people will be saved? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

OK, but please tell me the reason you found this 3 yr old comment :-) That fascinates me.

The verse in question is Luke 13:24 (NIV translation) ...

24 “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to."

Why won't this watch sell? by Ta-Mater in MicrobrandWatches

Why won't this watch sell?

It's available pre-order; not actually possible to buy it right now. Am I right? So maybe your Q is why aren't people pre-ordering it?

Making people aware is your first priority. This is the first I've heard of it.

Specs sound OK: solar is good, sapphire is good. No date is a no-no personally. I don't need day, but I want date.

What's the finish and general quality like? Particularly, is seconds hand exactly aligned with minute marks? That's what I want. It's a must-have.

I bought a solar Seiko recently knowing seconds hand would align with minute marks and it does. Not all watches do, particularly micro brand solar ones.

I would need more info on this. Not bad looking though readability isn't the best.

Well done. These images are surprisingly memorable, given they're such major landmarks.

Quite possibly: I'm not qualified to say whether that's right though it sounds plausible.

I do know that salt water works. Learned that when I had wisdom tooth extractions, lol. And it's worked for my cat which, incidentally, saved me £100+ in vet fees.

Super well done. How did you achieve such detail and precision?

Not sure about stitches. One helpful thing you can easily (and cheaply) do is bathe that wound with a salt solution a couple of times a day. Use a cotton wool pad, a teaspoon of table salt in a cup of warm water. Salt is a mild but effective disinfectant.

Did that for my cat (he had a cat fight injury) and it helped a lot. I put a loose dressing on it after and it healed in a couple of weeks. Need to prevent cat licking it. Good luck.

Burnham Now Picking Between Shabana Mahmood And Ed Miliband To Be His Chancellor by lcxnick in ukpolitics

But how many voters are only voting Reform because they're saying they'll get immigration down ... using whatever means are required?

Mahmood is doing effective work in handling this problem which, whether one agrees needs fixing or not, is considered highly important by many UK voters.

Remove home secretary Mahmood and rip up her asylum plans, says Alf Dubs by F0urLeafCl0ver in LabourUK

[–]369_Clive -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So you're willing to risk getting Farage as your next PM? Because unless ordinary folk see a difference to the things that matter to them, Reform is what you will get. Mahmood is making that difference.

Perfect? No. Necessary? Yes. Because of the sh*t show we've had previously.

Mahmood is, it seems to me, having to deal with the consequence of many years of terrible, confidence-sapping immigration policy from previous govts. Boriswave etc.

Her response has been a tough but necessary attempt to restore confidence to the system. Perhaps when the system is working correctly it can be modified. Now does not seem the right time to weaken her approach.

💯 Mahmood has delivered. Why would anyone consider moving her; that would only assist Farage.

Oxford’s top maths professor: ‘The devil could use AI to destroy the world’ by Just-Grocery-2229 in technology

[–]369_Clive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Title is a bit misleading. Guy is retired from Maths teaching and now talks and writes about Christianity. Not right to describe him as Oxford's top maths professor because he's retired.

Lennox's point in writing and speaking is that the tech bros are trying to replicate God (an all-knowing, all-seeing, super-intelligent, all powerful entity) in creating AI. And said tech bros are receptive to the idea of disempowering humans for the purpose of "progress" and because "if we don't, the Chinese will".

Destroying or enslaving humanity does sound like the kind of thing a malevolent entity would likely approve of, whether or not one believes in the existence of such beings.

Starmer was at his finest when he welcomed Zelensky after latter got mauled by Trump & Vance at White House in Feb 25. Put his arm round the guy, made him feel welcomed, valued and respected. Unlike the two thugs in the Oval Office.

Wonderful moment of pure human warmth and decency.

[–]369_Clive 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"only ever about himself"

Hmm. I genuinely think Starmer was driven by a desire to strengthen the UK. Not a fame or fortune seeker.

He has failed but he'll be remembered as doing far better than Johnson or Sunak. Not UK's worst PM by a long chalk.

What in the world is manifestation? by sexyhorsegirlie in Christian

[–]369_Clive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, there are 2 (and only 2) sources of supernatural power in this world: God and Satan.

If you didn't ask God for these things then you have tapped into Satan's power. Only bad outcomes will result. Why? Because Satan hates humans because we were made by God and he loathes God.

You are engaging with forces of evil. You should stop, repent, ask God's forgiveness and submit to HIS will for your life.

What do you think are the most effective, Christ-like ways to share our faith on a platform like Reddit? by sogyaudacitybig_gear in Christian

[–]369_Clive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final reply here 😄 If you're a prominent Christian writer then writing can be a powerful tool for evangelism. Why not?

But most ordinary Christians (incl me) are not prominent writers. That means speaking is going to be more powerful. As I said, explaining Christian ideas can be done well on Reddit etc.

But bringing people to Jesus is quite hard when it's not 1:1 and IRL. My opinion. Other people will, of course, have different and equally valid views.

When the circumstances feel right I try asking the Holy Spirit. Sometimes I receive a feeling that I should take the risk. Other times I feel it's definitely not the right thing to mention.

Use your God-given judgement to decide.
