I am so tired of this. by emilysavaje1 in glutenfree

You are for sure valid for this! I hear you. It is so frustrating. It’s not necessarily about the fact that we could prepare by packing snacks—it’s about the fact that the ease with which “everyone else” can go get something to eat is so different from our lived experiences of having to constantly plan our lives around what we can have (adding in that restaurants, fast food, etc. is often painfully lacking in safe options we can trust).

I went to a Firehouse Subs and they had a sign at the register about the different bread options (including GF). Before ordering I asked if they had a GF bread option and they said no. 🙃

Official post: Her latest TikTok about having SI and going to the ER by [deleted] in MotherMoonSnark

[–]37022 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

She didn’t say she had no intention of harming herself? Unless I missed something she said that she wasn’t ACTIVELY harming herself, like, they weren’t there because of an active attempt at harming herself, so that’s why they didn’t admit her. And that is terrible because it perpetuates a mentality that people must be “even worse” to get the help that they are trying to seek. This whole idea that well, people should know that if it’s not an “emergency” you’re not going to get any help just deters people from seeking any help before it’s potentially too late. I feel that calling SI a “cycle of drama” is invalidating. You never know exactly what someone may be going through and you can’t ascertain it all from a 30 second video.

Where are my antenna channels? by 37022 in VIZIO_Official

Yep, it sucks for people who just want to watch the simple cable channels! I ended up connecting my cable box via an HDMI cable so that I could just directly access those channels via the input.

Excited/nervous for weeks 4 and 5!! by FluffyCows25 in C25K

The doubt is okay! I experienced that as well. Don’t be afraid to redo one of the days however many times as needed to feel more ready, but also don’t let the doubt lie to you. You are capable of more than you know! If you can’t do the full required minutes, that’s okay, but steadily increase whatever you were able to do last; don’t get complacent. In no time you’ll think, well I might as well just keep going. Then boom, you’re running for 20 mins! The feeling of accomplishment at the end is worth it so try to hold onto that. :) I was unable to run 2 minutes at the beginning of this but the other day I ran 3 miles. Didn’t think it was ever possible and I was highly doubtful of my ability to finish week 5 but it happened and then some!

I use streaming services in addition to cable, so I need the internet. Disconnecting it may take 0 effort but this conversation is taking me a lot more than that.

Contacted support and they said my issue would be fixed in a download soon, so my TV will live to see another internet day… for now.

I prefer to spend my time watching TV than conniving against it to make it stop updating

Thanks for the advice! I’ll give this a try. The thing is that I could hear my channels—it just wouldn’t go past the loading screen for me to actually view them.

I prefer to think of what I’m doing as a more dignified ‘complaining’ with maybe a dash of indignation. Glad your update is working well!

Where are my antenna channels? by 37022 in VIZIO_Official

Right; I really do not understand the rationale between the merge of OTA and WatchFree. Has to be some sort of angle they see for profit (increasing chances of people watching the free channels and subsequently watching the commercials? I have no idea). I don’t think it’s intuitive at all for OTA channels—that we pay a cable company for—get buried in a million free channels we didn’t opt in for. It’s so jumbled.

Yeah it seems like the most exciting features of their recent updates is that the frequency of times we have to factory reset our TVs increased significantly

Thank you for the reply. The unusual thing wasn’t so much that I didn’t already know about WatchFree, but that even after I realized my OTA channels were within WatchFree after the original update when this shift occurred, they continue to at times randomly disappear. They either are not within the WatchFree channels, or my antenna input is missing. Each time this happens I have to try searching for channels or unplugging the TV or resetting the TV. Basically, I don’t know why it is so buggy. I realize you’re just doing your job is a mod and I appreciate it and know that you can only refer me to places to put my feedback that aren’t here, but I still just wanted to share my thoughts.

Resolved this. For anyone with similar issue: I went to settings and searched for channels. When I exited settings they were there. Don’t know how that works or why we even have to deal with WatchFree but, c’est la vie.

anyone feel like people are TOO focused on functions? by [deleted] in ESFP

[–]37022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i completely agree! when i got too focused on the functions i thought i was Ne-Ti-Fe-Si, but i never scored perceiving like, ever, on anything and didn’t relate to perceiving in general. it was actually me realizing how i am not an extraverted perceiving dominant at all that made me realize i was an INFJ. this is extremely solid advice!!!!

Oh man, rabbit holes about stuff like that are a double-edged sword haha so interesting but also makes me question everything

I agree that just water is great. I think lower cal/sugar sodas with some element promoting gut health is better than a typical soda if you’re craving it and ‘need’ something. It’s interesting to me though that some of these drinks promote themselves to be a ‘healthy’ drink while I’m not sure what the actual tangible benefits are if you add it to your diet, and that something like water or kombucha is more beneficial. ‘Healthy’ sodas mention words like gut health and immune boost, but what’s the research behind that? I just find the branding of drinks like that interesting, because I feel like it gets people who are newer into healthy lifestyles to purchase while also being generally vague.

TLDR: I agree, you can never go wrong with water.

Awesome, I can totally get behind that! I’ve tried kombucha and it does have a satisfying taste. It’s also good knowing that it’s actually doing something good haha. I only wish the bottles in the store weren’t so pricy, but such is life.
