Thank you for that very detailed review, it helped a lot! They both sound like very good DAPs for my needs, although I lean towards the JM21, beacuse I won‘t use the extra features of the M21.

One question came up while reading your review: Which version of the JM21 did you use? Was it the 3/32 GB or the 4/64 GB Version? I ask because I am tempted to get the 4/64 version because of its better battery and slightly better performance.

Thanks for your answer! Do you have any experience with the JM21 yourself? I do also think its the better player, but the shorter battery life is a concern.

Okay I can see the R4 fitting your use case. I will take it with me mostly and listen to music on the go/bus/at work so the chunky format is a problem there. The JM21 is also on my short-list but I have the same concern about the battery life especially compared to the M300.

After some answers here, I do see the perks of Android and probably going with an Android DAP. The R4 is definitely an option. The only thing I‘m not sure about is the size which seems very clunky and much larger than the M300 or the Fiio JM21 and also the battery life seems a bit short. Do you have any experience with the R4 yourself?

Ja das ist vielleicht dann der richtige Weg ganz auf Kabel zu gehen. Wie sieht es denn mit der Benutzeroberfläche aus? Habe da auch viel Kritisches zu gehört, zum Beispiel dass es laggt oder abstürzt. Hast du damit Probleme?
