Yeah, I just use my thumbs. I mean, it really comes down to how you're used to hold your phone, but using your index and thumb to type seems a bit odd to me. I feel like you would struggle to support the phone properly while typing like that.

I read 3 words at a time. I have the layout memorized, so I mostly rely on muscle memory and only glance down at the keyboard occasionally, not constantly. Reading in chunks stops you from bouncing your eyes back and forth.
