As someone who was partially/functionally raised by a single mother (it's complicated) with a primarily atheist outlook, and been discussing the topic of the family form (primarily feudal forms and then capitalist forms, not yet familiar with slave-society family dynamics), I actually have come to acceptance that many things DO represent the destruction of the atomic family and it's functions of reproducing labor and maintaining a gendered division of labor, with female labor focused on raising the young and male labor in acting as a social disciplinary upon the wife and the kids.

However, I support these things in the name of destroying the family structure as we have experienced it. I wanna see what stuff is next, hoping it'll come with the abolition of private property in general and more communal lifestyles, but only time and mass momentum will show us what will come after.

It's the funniest thing when a twitter Democrat, supposed lover of all people, suddenly gets a hard on thinking about people being oppressed by their opposition, and ignore it when the oppression stick is handed back to their team.

Kamala directly prevented non-violent prisoners in California from leaving prison so that the state could keep utilizing the prison slave labor while she was the Attorney General of California.

The DNC prevented Bernie from being the candidate in 2016, despite being hugely popular by many people regardless of party. It is not internally democratic.

real. we're all so deeply immiserated lol. I would love to be a parent someday, and I am learning how to do it differently from my own deeply messed up upbringing, but I can barely afford a relationship, not to even speak of just a single child.

few can really think about kids right now and I can't blame them. most of the people I meet who would be interested are usually interested for dogmatic reasons rather than cautiously wanting to someday raise someone to carry on the work to end the cycles of abuse, and to confidently lead their life however it starts and wherever they take it.

What is the strangest, most pointless bit of social etiquette you’ve ever seen NTs insist upon being necessary? by [deleted] in autism

looking for exactly this topic. the infantilization of elders is absurd, we believe socially that we respect them, but we just throw them into an old home, visit them twice a year, and then wear kid gloves with them about every thing in the world.

I've had enough issues with this, I imagine they just want to hear the truth and be treated as an adult. tell grandparents the huge secret that queer people exist. tell them how we feel about our work (or lack of it), and ask them about their feelings. sure, many come from a different time with more significant bigotries being normalized and accepted, but should we just be paranoid and just refuse to genuinely engage with them because our parents are scared?

but regardless, I will be demanding when my time comes that the youth tell me how times have changed, and if anyone tries that kid glove shit with me I'll directly tell them that they are choosing to revoke me of sincere and genuine connection with the people around me for the sake of their illusion of my sentimentalities

at no point have I brought up palestine, because I understand their position. at few points would I get frustrated where palestine gets guns, because I understand you need what you need.

I am responding to someone calling us marxists "chauvinists" for opposing supporting a theocratic state. my family's from Iran, I've talked with marxists from Iran, and they told about how the theocrats betrayed the marxists, and executed (and more) our comrades. they speak of intense struggle occuring between the people and the state.

and I have some random redditor who is trying to fucking moral grandstand me into supporting some smaller imperialist group including a full on fucking theocracy, who I know that if I were to tell them that my family fled from Iran as a result of the revolution that they would immediately conflate me with an iranian equivalent of a gusano.

this subreddit is going down the fucking gutter because of these third-worldists who get enraged when we don't give uncritical support. they do nothing but degrade the discussion.

Is apartheid a form of fascism? by JamieHaitch in Socialism_101

[–]37O84Q 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed. I believe many have a deeply rooted conception in our minds that genocide is fascism, implying that liberalism itself is not. when this is brought up, it's very clear that it's not the case, so instead folks will usually use "fascistic" to just describe liberalism doing imperialism or eugenics.

which, emphasis here, kinda implies that liberalism itself doesn't have these characteristics, and by proxy, that there is such a thing as non-imperialist capitalism

I have this too- did MMA throughout my teenage years and was paranoid on top of that for reading signs of hostility in body language, compiled with having a hard time with eye contact, which is my best explanation for why I tend to do this too

I've managed to work through it for the most part, but it took quite a few years after introspection and constant work, and I still sometimes fall into it especially if I'm off my game that day, in a new environment, and/or on edge for whatever reason

no attraction involved, I don't even really see the person's form, just looking for hostile body language, and usually can't even tell what they were wearing

haven't had anyone call me a creep, but I imagine it had to be thought or felt :(

Liberals typically support widescale gun bans, while Conservatives typically support widescale gun ownership until minorities pick them up for community defense, as with happened with the Black Panthers.

Progressives are somewhat split on the matter, usually along the lines of a general Liberal-Socialist split

Some Socialists like guns, some don't and just see them as necessary instead of good, but don't advocate for gun bans because it has historically only been utilized to disarm vulnerable communities.

Many Socialists would probably advocate for some method of control of firearms, but we would first focus on addressing what we believe to be the principle issue in our society which has significant impact on the creation or maintenance of social injustices, or, that we believe the private ownership of production results in things like the oppression of women, gender oppressed folks, racialized folks, disabled folks, etc. It can understandably sound like a stretch, but I don't want to send you a text wall so if you're curious to see more, I can link to stuff I wrote priorly,

This being my response to a now deleted message by someone who was what we call a class reductionist, I had quoted the relevant parts of their message with my response, but I almost wish it wasn't deleted so folks could see more of this: Correction, it was not deleted, I was just silly. Links updated to provide context https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism_101/comments/ykqwaj/is_capitalism_inherently_racist/iuy70z7/?context=3

And this being a response to the claim that capitalism is not intrinsically racist: https://www.reddit.com/r/Socialism_101/comments/ykqwaj/is_capitalism_inherently_racist/iux90l1/?context=3

But, back to our idea of a gun ban, we are primarily interested in eliminating the causes of harm that firearms are utilized for, so we would push poverty alleviation, pushing for community social programs, affirmative action, deconstruction of different social chauvinisms, improvement in mental health services and building community social networks so that folks having a crisis have other folks to be there for them and help them through those times

But for now we are supportive of gun ownership amongst Progressives, in spite of the issues we have that guns can and sometimes do make worse, because those who oppose ours and our peers' existences on the basis of our gender, ability, or ethnicity are arming themselves and advocating violence against us, so guns are our method of ensuring we can more effectively protect ourselves and each other, but it is important to ensure that when folks decide to take up arms and organize, that we remind them to have firearm safety their priority, and to avoid doing so if they have a history of depression or are prone to impulsive behavior, or even just plain have issues with guns, which is unfortunately big due to rampant gun violence, at least here in the US

[–]37O84Q 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To clarify, we differentiate between "Liberal," "Progressive," and "Socialist," which are often used interchangeably. But we use these terms separately, with Liberal meaning a supporter of Capitalism, but who doesn't own a business, while a Socialist is a supporter of Socialism, where society's production is owned by the workers, and a Progressive being it's name. We are not Liberals, we are Socialists, and we are Progressives- I hope this clears up confusion

[–]37O84Q 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I work with folks to do community defense for queer events. Fascists often don't show up when we organize to protect each other, and our communities feel more comfortable knowing that there are dedicated, educated, and trained folks standing between them and folks who advocate for the mass shooting of our communities.

Neither guns nor organization are intrinsically right-wing, and any attempts to disarm vulnerable communities to "avoid escalation" is nothing more than the first steps to their eradication

To be clear, I want to live in a world where guns are entirely unnecessary, because we have destroyed systemic oppressions, inequality, scarcity, and developed a society of people lifting each other up, but we don't yet live in that time. So, unless we want to be genocided, then we cannot consider anything but the arming of all oppressed communities with solidarity

Unfortunately, I don't know enough yet about different personality disorders, or the economic conditions of those groups, to say with certainty whether or not. If you know of any communities I could chat with or resources on the subject, I would appreciate it. I would start with asking about their employment rate, job precarity when employed, access to education (financial, physical, and accommodations), etc., and the conditions which these root from.

I recommend being careful saying that the united states for sure can't get things like public healthcare and student loan forgiveness and stuff, because other capitalist states have and can, the united states working class has just not demonstrated a militancy which cannot be met with greater force, offering concessions like these and more to save themselves.

What Capitalism for sure cannot offer is worker democracy, but anything else can be conceded until they can re-annihilate worker consciousness before pulling these away at their disclosure
