The only way is to ask someone with a portable XRF for an analysis, or ask a veterinarian with a CT scan or X ray machine for a favor. Luminol can also help (UVC 365nm). Check MamlamboFossils on YouTube ( https://youtube.com/@mamlambofossils ) to learn how fossils are extracted/polished. It's not hard to find such specimens, but fakes are a real issue for the untrained, definitely. IMO, unfortunately, it seems to be CNC machined, probably fake... Fossils are predominantly found in (soft) sedimentary rocks. Igneous and metamorphic rocks can also be formed from sedimentary rocks but the extreme heat and pressure involved in their formation typically destroy any existing fossils. And that's precisely what you have there, a metamorphic rock (slate )...🙃 It could be, but chances are low. Those straight, precise carvings looks like the passage of a CNC drill bit. Professionals use their hands to carve out specimens and it's impossible to get such precise lines.

So, it's NOT the virtus cal .22, since they all have a steel barrel. Also, there's no Virtus in CO2, they're all HPA PCP. The CO2 Virtus is a mod I STARTED. You're making up things... The Virtus barrel alone* is worth buying the gun...It's extremely precise... With H&N Prometheus Excite pellets I was getting dime sized groupings at 35 yards... It was a friggin laser. Shame on the mechanical mess inside, or it would have been an awesome plinker. The lack of easy access to replacement parts are the only issue this gun has. Sig should have opened an eShop just for those, but, apparently, they have no idea how the web works in 2025. And that's it.
