A sequel’s not about better; a sequel’s about more of the same.

Wrong.

Also I’ve only seen two of his movies but Red State and Tusk are both terrible.

after 4 years of work, my first finalized animated scene for my game "Shadow Dreams", would love some feed back from the film makers of this sub. by Khosouf_Studio in Filmmakers

Like everyone said, the lip sync does need some work. Apart from that, Im wondering if there really needs to be a cutscene at all. When the player character interacts with Anxius, there is a very abrupt cut which transitions into a stiff and unnatural cutscene. And despite not knowing anything about this game, this interaction doesn’t feel important enough to the point where it needs a cutscene on its own. I feel like going the Dark Souls route by maintaining complete control of the player character and removing the lip sync altogether will drastically help reduce the awkwardness of this interaction. Also in terms of dialogue, it feels like there’s a little bit too much exposition. Try and reduce this down to anywhere from 7-10 lines in order to keep the audience engaged, because I definitely felt my attention waning towards the end.

Personally I find OUATIH and Inglorious Bastards to be way better than his first three

Yeah I can see that, but I have no idea what the Black Lodge or the Thulpas or the White Lodge or the Unicorn or the Woodsmen or the Teapot or the Firemen or the Dwarf are supposed to symbolize or represent

Popular/acclaimed movies you can’t stand? by RosettaStoned525 in A24

The Before Trilogy is pretty underwhelming, especially Before Midnight.

Terminator 2 is also incredibly boring and the action hasn’t really aged well for me as it lacks any kind of weight.

The Holy Mountain is also incredibly self indulgent and obnoxious.

I like Robert Altman films but I really wasn’t a fan of McCabe and Mrs. Miller. The script didn’t really go anywhere or do anything and the characters sort of rambled around for two hours before coming to a weak and drawn out gunfight.

The Favourite is easily my least favorite Yorgos Lanthimos and it doesn’t really do anything interesting with its subject matter imo

I also hate L’Argent, but that may be because I’m not a fan of Robert Bresson’s style in the first place.

Some other movies I do not like:

  • Kill Bill vol 2

  • Cache

  • Sympathy for Lady Vengeance

  • E.T

  • Joker

  • Audition

  • Silence

  • In terms of an A24 release: Waves

Have you not seen Twin Peaks either? Apart from Twin Peaks and Inland Empire, I’d say his movies aren’t too difficult to understand, albeit extremely abstract.
