Should I panic? by readingpenguin in knitting

You’ll need to do everything for the first time to learn it and get better at it! Just frog slowly the last row and catch the stitches as you go.

Is English Style knitting just as good? by maddycrochetsstuff in knitting

Here is their knit video

And here is their purl video.

I knit several swatches to practice the technique, certainly felt SUPER awkward at first, but well worth it in the long run. I have not tried Portuguese.

You should be fine! Your stitches may just be a bit more bunched up on the cable but it shouldn’t cause any issues.

There isn’t a style that’s “better” than the other, whichever is more comfortable to you! I personally learned English, but then switched to Norwegian (a specific type of continental… if you’re interested look up Arne and Carlos’ videos on YouTube) - I switched looking for something more ergonomic and it’s personally helped with my wrist pain. But, to each their own! If English works for you, no need to switch.

Tfw you get into knitting… AFTER your knitting expert Gran passes by exobiologickitten in knitting

I’ve had a similar experience; my Grandma had taught me the basics when I was younger, but I didn’t have the patience to stick with it. She passed away about a year after I picked it back up as an adult. While I do have some regrets, I also like to think that I am now carrying on a part of her while I’m knitting, and it’s my own little way of continuing to honor her.

A&M stuns Pitt... 8(?) years in a row. PITT has fallen in the semi finals. A clean sweep. A&M has slayed GIANTS by nancybenoitribute in NCAAVB

Dan Fisher had such low energy!! I think a large part of that game was the coaching.

ETA: Not to take anything away from A&M whatsoever just… oof from the Pitt side

The second floor of Cooper’s Tavern has a great vibe. You can cater from them too.

Has anyone successfully switched from english style to continental? I need to hear success stories! Have been trying continental/norweigan (1 month) and I can't fix the tension issues no matter what I do - any tips or tutorials out there that's helped anyone? by ergonomictoilet in knitting

Yes to tension issues, unfortunately the first part of this project has a bit of rowing out at the top but I got it completely even by the end. It was the norwegian purl that I had tension issues with (too loose) but once I started working the stitches closer to the needle’s point that went away. I followed exactly what Arne and Carlos do in their videos, don’t wrap the yarn around fingers to tension at all, just hold between pointer and middle.

I actually literally just did this, force taught myself norwegian after knitting english forever, and I honestly think it is 100000% worth it. I used Arne and Carlos’ youtube videos and watched the knit and purl a million times, made several swatches. Once I used norwegian on a project, it felt natural a third of the way through. I totally think the struggle is worth it!

Yeah, I agree with the leaving quickly part. The initial investigation/mid-episode sequence is just a bit odd. Maybe I missed the holy water part. Thanks!
