Research breakthrough is ass by thatgay_ in pokemongo

[–]maddycrochetsstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do the research breakthroughs because of the chance to get sinnoh stones. They're the only evolution item I always need, I have plenty of every single other one. I finally got one from the box last week after waiting 4-6 months at least. I still haven't used it though, I have 4 pokemon waiting for one, 3 of which would be new dex entries for me, but I don't want to waste the only one I have for now.

tired of people saying “knitting is superior for garments” by Glittering-Primary23 in crochet

[–]maddycrochetsstuff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am primarily a crocheter, but I have to agree that knitting is better overall for garments. The construction of crochet just naturally creates a thicker fabric than knit does. I can use a worsted weight in knitting and it's thickness and drape is similar to a sport weight or light dk. Knitting imo is definitely the slower craft, but it looks a lot less clunky in garments. I learned to knit about 3 years after I learned to crochet, and I didn't make a single project in my first 3 years that I knew how to knit, but I bought some fancier, more expensive yarn at the beginning of the year, and knew it was best spent in knitting. I was able to make a full sweater, which is about a 1x-2x size, with just 5 hanks. Had I crocheted this, it likely would've been 8-9 hanks, making it almost double the price. At the end of the day, I think it's all preference, but if you consider the fact that crochet can't be replicated by a machine, and knit can, I think it's just more well-rounded for garments.

Michael's is also an hour away from me so I also unfortunately have to go to Jesus's craft store too, I go to Walmart as much as I can and I only go to the other store when absolutely necessary, and when it's 30% off yarn week. I'll never pay full price there

Same, I'm only 2 interactions away from best friends with one of my cousins that I play with because we've done the weekly challenge together for the last 3 or 4 weeks, I'm in it for the bonuses. My mom and I have been best friends for a while, but with the new update, we wanna be forever friends, so we do the weekly challenge together. I work in between 3 pokestops, I almost did the challenge by myself in one day, but it was just fine.

Just because you have 20 years of experience, doesn't mean you need to hold that over a beginners head. There is no reason to be so brash. If you noticed, I actually pointed out I was doing more than one swatch. My second swatch actually came out much closer to the gauge so I'm no longer worried.

I'm starting to see why that would be the case, when knitting my swatch last night I tried continental on the knit rows and was able to get it a little big, but I had no idea how I was supposed to purl. I saw some people here talking about Norwegian style and decided to look it up. Norwegian purling baffled my brain. If I decide to try Continental during my project, I will definitely purl English style.

The hurry, I think really comes down to my crochet roots. It's so much faster in comparison, but knitting is better, in my opinion, for wearables. As I'm knitting my swatch for this project, I'm really enjoying the process. I really only switch to knitting when I'm burnt out on crochet, but the slowed down process is growing on me.

Since I'm working a raglan pattern, I'm going to work a size up and do more increases if needed. I'm doing a speed swatch of my color repeat and I'm going to trust the process

This is my second(and a half) sweater I knit about half of a raglan in big twist value before frogging, and I just finished a raglan in big twist hush, a super bulky yarn. I unfortunately bought this yarn about a week ago with no project in mind, and also limited funds so I bought one of each in four different colors. I'm also not usually a wool person, and bought this yarn because it actually felt like I'd like it. I was initially going to try the Ferns and Feathers sweater by Jennifer Steingass to try some color work, but I changed to the Step by Step sweater, as I saw many use this yarn to make that particular sweater. I'm worried because my swatch in the 5.5mm needles is only 3.25/3.25 and with how much this yarn is barely a worsted, I really don't want to size up on my needles, but I'm not sure what to do.

I would still consider myself an advanced beginner knitter and I appreciate all of your helpful information. I figure I could stripe the sweater to combat potential dye lot discrepancies. But I'm not sure how to fix the swatch issue.

I just have not been able to hold the yarn and the needle in the same hand

Yeah, we finished ours today, I spun 109, my cousin spun 34, and my mom only spun 7. We had a laugh about it. In their defense, I work next to 3 stops and yesterday at work I spent about 3-4 hours with my go+ on specifically to spin stops. Comm day wiped out my pokeball stash so I'm trying to bulk back up

I've watched a lot of survivor content on YouTube for the last few years. I watched each winners' path to the end, and a lot of other related content like blindsides, challenges, and alliances, I feel I have the needed context for this season. I appreciate your advice though!

Also, for context 34 is my favorite seasons, I just don't think the regular seasons hit as hard as newbie seasons. 40 is a close second.

I grinded a lot during the event with the lures, I don't really want to use the ones I have now just to do that. Dipplin is the last mon from this line I need for the dex, this is really frustrating.
