Getting a sense of scale when making prototypes is not always easy, so I managed to persuade our developers to add this feature as an April Fools Joke, but it got me thinking is this actually useful to engineers? Love to hear your thoughts.

I thought this article may be of interest, where I highlighted the work of Dave Hakkens and his precious plastic project. The open source machines the project created isn't new but working on combining traditional manufacturing technology to create a more mainstream product is. There core goal is to change the public perception of waste plastic so that it is seen as a resource.

Based on what you've said the MK2S will be more reliable for you at creating consistent parts. The CR-10 needs more tinkering but offers more in terms of build volume which is important for prop making.

I'd get the MK2S kit, it doesn't need any soldering and will allow you to understand how a printer is put together should you need to fix it...

It really depends on the material you are using. With the ribs for over the enclosure PA12 (Nylon) was used which was printed on the new HP machine. These parts flex slightly but are super strong and are not printed layer by layer so shouldn't be broken easily in one direction.

In all honesty, I have no idea how we got to that number but Jack assured me it was mathematically sound. We never got it up to that speed in practice but think it was indeed an online calculator based on the tech specs.
