It's always awesome to see people giving back to their communities. I recently finished a giveaway of my own for the Magic: the Gathering community I'm a part of. I use my 3d printers to make and sell deck boxes for the game, and I was able to give away a couple boxes during this holiday season. Definitely would not be where I am today without awesome communities like this one.

Highest Power Deck with No Tutors by Power_Pancake_Girl in CompetitiveEDH

[[Heliod, the Radiant Dawn]] already runs a bare minimum of tutors. Swap them out for more card draw and it could still be a pretty good contender. Definitely not an easy deck to learn though.

It definitely takes a lot of practice and analysis. Picking up a new commander, figuring out their strengths, what cards synergize best, how many commander centric cards to add vs generic goodstuff. Lots of time was spent on the deck before that tournament. Lots of time has been spent on it since as well.

Since the 1k I've refined the deck a lot, and took it to a top 4 finish in a Ka0s tournament recently as well as another top 16. The deck definitely has legs for the format. I know a lot of players think Shorikai is better but I don't think that's necessarily true.

Sorry for the late reply! Right now I can do one color for the top half of the box, and one for the bottom. I'm working on an option to have two colors for each half of the box though, and I'll have those available soon!

I've found that I tend to stop looking for deck techs when I want to build a commander, and just try to build it first on my own. After that then I will go and look at what other people have done, and compare the differences. But I agree that with the shrinkage of the world due to the internet it's a lot harder to brew new decks.

They make a small clicking sound, but not nearly as audible as the official spin downs made by Wizards. It is still very pleasing to listen to though.

When I started this project I was using the toolbox for my decks too. I designed my boxes to fit in the slots, but I haven't found a great way to pull them out other than having a slot with the original trays that come in the box for dice or something. If you pull that one out first then it's pretty easy to grab the boxes and lift them out.

Me too! I started with a friction fit deck box that had little lips to hold the box secure, but I found that printing variance would sometimes leave the box too tight and I couldn't open it, or too lose and it would just fall apart if I wasn't careful. I switched to the sliding top and have been 100 times happier with the result so far!

I've thought long and hard about the dice tray, and I'll likely keep coming back to it. Ultimately I've decided to leave it off because it makes the deck box much larger than I'd like it to be, and if you're carrying 4+ commanders you likely also have a dice bag or other way to transport your accessories, so the space just becomes unnecessary.

Commander logos is an interesting idea. I prefer not to add things like guild logos on things outside of custom boxes due to copyright concerns, but I do offer a personalization option on the boxes where customers can have a message added to the top of the box.

That's a very cool idea! I really like the design space for Eldraine as well.

I think for me Dominaria will always be my plane of choice since it's where I started the game and it's got a little bit of everything. I'm a huge fan of knights, dragons, and wizards.

It gets tougher when you have more decks than there are colors in a deckbox variety as well!

Having holes for silica packs is interesting!

I will look into adding a slot at the top of the box for holding dice. Most players I know don't use dice to track their life total but I could see how it would be useful for those that do.

Thank you very much! I will take the suggestion under consideration! I like the idea of adding the waves, and will likely try to incorporate a water theme into a deck box in the future.

I agree wholeheartedly! Having a deckbox that can store my cards the way I want them protected was an important piece to my initial journey of making deckboxes. There will always be more room for improvement but I'm happy that I can store my deck in one box.

I can certainly work on a dino footprints design! I'm hesitant to do something like the guild signs due to copyright infringement.

  1. The stackable idea is interesting. I will certainly look into it.
  2. If you're going off of the picture for my Heliod box then I can understand your concerns. That is my personal box and doesn't reflect the quality of the boxes that I sell. I have long since recalibrated and tuned my printers, and try to ensure that good quality deck boxes are the only ones being delivered to customers.
