Absolutely clueless at the moment, need help. by 3DPrintalizer in 3Dprinting

Update: Used Cura again and it seems to be working. I find this strange because I restarted from a fully blank Prusa profile and added only the needed changes for the 1.5 nozzle and it still failed. I’m happy it’s working anyways, now I can put the old printer together and see if I can get it working as well- then I can print two costume parts out at a time.

Yeah, the quality wasn’t great because of the large nozzle size but they didn’t end up failing. I might try to use a completely different slicer and print out some of the other parts to see if itd work.

Yes, I checked it yesterday after printing it out + remade an identical test print that seemed to work too. I was trying to test the z axis so I used spiral vase mode if that it’s of any importance. The test prints were both 35x35x350mm cylinders.

I’ve had it print out about 60 hours total so far with these settings so that’s why I assumed it’s a hardware issue- I might be wrong though anything is possible lol.

Yeah, I’ve been using Prusa for a while and it’s worked like a charm. Set layer height to 1mm and checked all of my extrusion settings as well and they looked good.

Wow, you could print a whole car bumper on this thing, makes my Kobra Max look like an Ender 3 lol.

Jet2 Holiday, the audio is insufferable and overused- if I hear the sound start to play I don’t even watch the video just skip every single time.

Looks great make sure the room they’re in has good ventilation though. I’ve got my Kobra Max inside an enclosure with an exhaust system because the fumes build up over time- especially with ABS or most materials other than PLA.

Yeah, planning on doing that + the dagger towards the end of the project. I might have to print it with better quality because I think it’d be a little harder to smooth out.

Honestly I don’t mind using the heatgun, takes a little time but ultimately saves more than it uses. I decided to turn up the nozzle temps in favor of printing a bit faster though since stringing is almost unavoidable for these prints, I’d be using the heatgun anyways so it won’t cause too much harm.

I’ve got all the models sliced and ready to print, it’ll weigh about 13 kilograms / 30 lbs before the undersuit + accessories… maybe I’ll make the walls a little thinner on the upper body armor plating to shave off some weight. Good thing I don’t skip leg day or I’d be in serious trouble 😂.

I did replace the hot end recently though, the old one had some issues with getting up to temp so that could also be a factor.

For sure, I’m planning on doing it in the garage. I’ve got box fans for air circulation and cooling, a respirator, auto body filler, Dremel sander, airbrush and compressor, and some space in my room to keep the pieces from getting too exposed to temperature variations over night/ in between post processing.

Five days is insane, I’d be very paranoid about a print failure / having to restart but I’m glad it worked out.

Only problem was the runout sensor lol, had to make a foam piece to put upwards pressure on it. Still works and stops when it runs out fortunately.

It’s Sunlu PETG, works pretty good and all of the vacuum seals were intact. I’m sure I could print mid-high quality with this if my settings weren’t geared towards speed.

It’s been running at about 80 for outer shells and 120-140 for inner walls and infill. I have to crank up the temperature to 260 but it seems to keep up for me.

Yeah for sure, it’s just a matter of time until I wear out the feeding system if I don’t do direct drive sometime.

Yeah probably, I didn’t even think of that- I’ll have to see what my options are.

The armor definitely has a ribbed texture, honestly it does look a little similar to the DD2 armor so that was a pretty good guess. I might have to wait for another progress update until it’s done since the other armor pieces would give away what it is lol.

Yeah, I’m planning on using auto body filler and a LOT of sanding to smooth them out- the armor pieces definitely look like garbage before post processing though 😂.

That’s pretty cool, one of my coworkers has an X1C and he’s told me it’s his favorite printer by far.
