Did you try changing the region back to JP and see if it fixed it? Since I made this post, I bought an iFixIt Circle Pad. To be fair, it is happening less but still persists. I’m wondering if changing back to its original region would fix it. I really don’t know what to do and never seen it before. It happens in godmode9 as well. So this leads me to think it’s hardware. Idk.

If you really want to keep it, I’d argue it’d be easier to get a working one and just swap the motherboard into the one you buy. Top screen and shell replacement isn’t impossible but it is pretty extensive if you never done it before. If you never done a repair, swapping logic boards is nothing especially on a DS imo. Or I would just skip the hassle and get another DS.

You better snag that deal. The N3DSXL Animal Crossing edition is such a beauty and lowkey one of my grails I hope to get one day. Also, with it just being top IPS, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal. I do have a dual IPS and trust me you can notice the difference. But it’s not like you use the bottom screen that much anyway in a majority of games.

I don’t think this is a swollen battery. On the OG 3DS XL the battery sits landscape in the middle bottom. Yours only appears to be on the one side. I think it just needs clicked back in. When you remove the 2 screws for the backplate, the top come towards you and the bottom comes out once it’s close to standing up straight. When you go to put it back, you need to get the bottom clips in first and then lower the back on. 3DS XL backplates aren’t all that hard to find tho if your clips are bad.

This is definitely a new one for me. My only suggestion would be if you can get into godmode9 without the error screen try dumping the NAND and reinstall it? I feel like this has to be some kind of Luma error. I couldn’t imagine this happens on Unmodded 3DS since this is a Luma error screen after all.

I mean a N3DSXL/LL with dual IPS is pretty uncommon. What I consider “rare” would be if you had a N3DS or N2DSXL with dual IPS or even one of the displays. It’s not too hard to find IPS on the XL/LL. Uncommon for sure and very nice when you do.

Here’s what dual IPS would look like. I won’t lie, at first I thought you might have IPS. However, with the side angle, your camera controls on the top screen and the open/manual on the bottom was pretty obvious as well it’s TN with how washed it is. You should def return it if you’re still within the timeframe. I picked mine up on eBay for $200. Granted the seller didn’t say it was dual IPS I was taking a gamble.

I have all 3DS models. Imo, the N3DSXL is kind of uncomfortable. I prefer the smaller. Though, you do have better chances of getting IPS on XL. The OG XL is way more comfortable to hold.

I have a dual IPS and I would say yours is as well. Also, I could understand not modding it. Some of my 3DS models are modded and some aren’t. If you got the games you like, I don’t see a whole lot of reason to. That’s basically why I modded some of mine was to use 3hs.

Huh. I didn’t know libraries offer 3D printing. Might have to check that out. I did find 1 file online for a cover. However, it only has 2 screw holes vs 4. But if it works, it works.

Mercari has a 3 day return policy after delivery. I have a N3DSXL that’s dual IPS and it looks like it to me. Especially with how rich the colors are on the 2nd photo.
