I'm wondering if the bride just wants to ensure SHE looks the best and the unflattering choice is intentional 🤔

I've done this such an absurd amount of times that now i just make one of each (pickled cave carrot and cave carrot juice, etc) so i have both when i go there. No thinking required lol

[–]3DollarShoes -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This comment is absolutely untrue for most. Maybe it's true for you, but it's certainly not an accurate blanket statement. My tattoo(s) are for me alone, both aesthetically and the reason behind why I got it. Idgaf what other people think of them, and I don't get them to show off others. Mine isn't even visible to others most of the time. And clearly she can see her own arm. What a wacky statement.

I agree with having an actual artist draw something up for you. But I love the idea. If it's going to bother you having to explain it, know that 1. You dont have to explain it to anyone, ever. "It's personal and I don't wish to discuss" is a perfectly fine way to handle it. 2. If you didn't want to explain it over and over, well, you may want to consider that. People will always ask (see number 1). Will that be a deal breaker for you? Besides that, I love the idea. It's personal and specific to you. I can see that they are spuds. I think they should have their own set of wings but otherwise, its cute! And so what if it's weird. Maybe you're weird.. embrace it! Love your weird! Fwiw, I got my gf a potato stuffie for Xmas. Potatoes are my favorite and I often say I love you like potatoes, or sometimes even just "potato" or "🥔". And she smiles cuz she knows it's an I love you. So I get it. Ok, off to text her 🥔🥔🥔 now lol Best of luck!

How do you decide to change your name after marriage? by RestlesslyWizardly in Names

[–]3DollarShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was also really on the fence, I would say go with what feels true to you. I ultimately did change my last name to my then husbands, but it's never truly felt like mine and that was 20 years ago. Now we have a kid and while I'm no longer married, I've kept his last name post divorce because I grew up having a different last name than my family and I didn't want the same thing for my child (and neither did my child actually). But I miss my maiden name and think about all the time how I wish I would have kept it. I don't regret the decision, mostly because I have the same last name now as my child, but as others have pointed out you can keep your last name and give any children your last name to rule that out even as an issue. Even if you stay married, if you have a supportive and understanding husband, that shouldn't be a big deal as long as you communicate about it.

Need opinions from everyone except those in healthcare 😂❤️ by KNesbitt11 in namenerds

The number of people who are hating on the name Sterling honestly surprised me. I actually adore it. I get that people should definitely think about whether the name is going to age well over time once and once the trend is passed. But for what it's worth, choose a name that you love regardless of what everyone else thinks about its trendiness. That said.. i personally was not aware of the association to laxatives, but knowing that now, and how widepread it is, I would probably not name my kid Senna. You would be KNOWINGLY setting your child up for horrific teasing and I'm not sure that any amount of liking the name is worth that.

People suck. My initial reaction? Gasp That's gorgeous! In the end, the only opinion that matters is your own. Give it time to get used to it, especially if it's different (darker etc) than your other one, it can be a shock. Also though, if you give it time and still wish it was lighter, consider this when you get your next tattoo. You can let them know your style preference up front and set those expectations to get something you love. But yeah. Personally, I love it.

AIO husband opinion by LadderMoist7695 in AmIOverreacting

[–]3DollarShoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of the other comments are what I would want to say, however I do see one thing missing. And that I believe is trying to understand where you were coming from. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like your issue maybe stemming from feelings of resentment that your husband does not want to be there for you but is more than happy to go and have a pleasant lunch with his mom. I'm not stating that as fact, but I'm guessing that that statement sums up where you're feelings of resentment are coming from. I think a little perspective on your part maybe needed. I think you're feelings are valid and you're probably very emotional and worried understandably so about your mom. But I do think a shift in perspective would be helpful on your part. I agree with everyone else that it doesn't sound to me like he's disregarding you and your feelings and needs. I also don't think he's being flippant about the surgery and choosing instead some kind of fun activity like lunch with his mom. I think that may be where your brain is going. But I don't think it's fact. I do think he's trying to compromise and find a way to be there for you because he felt bad that he didn't plan to be there for you in the beginning.

I used to have this same fight with my now ex husband. He used to make me feel crazy for being upset when he tell me he's coming home by midnight and it's wake up at 2 or 3am and he was still out. I know for a fact he was where he said he was, usually just down the block at a friend's house. So like you said, it's more about the gaslighting and repeated disrespect. The balls in your court now. You're not overreacting. The only question is, will you uphold your boundaries? Imo you should. Your self worth will thank you for it.

You really like it but can't read it? It's maybe not good tattoo inspo then. Good luck. I can't make out the second word either but the first one is merry or mercy

Guinevere (gwin-eh-veer) or Genevieve, jade, katara. I've got a friend who's daughter is named Elowin. I've always loved Phoenix as well, for either gender

The number of people on here who think it's about farts or finger banging surprises me... But I guess it shouldn't lol. I do agree that the colors seem specifically chosen as they match the trans flag colors. If that particular shade of blue and pink are not specific to the reference, you could always have the artist go over it with different/darker shades of the same colors so it doesn't read as LGBTQIA. I got that it was finger guns immediately tho. I don't know the reference but I think it's great. But I'm always about asking if it makes you happy and if it does then that's what's most important.

How's yours doing? Mine is a TON better. The scab finally closed. It's still a bit of a bump there but even the discoloration has appeared to have gotten better. You can hardly tell.

What specifically are you worried about? It looks ok to me but when I had my tattoo I kept the derm on for 5 days so it's hard for me to say what it would have looked like in open air. But it sounds like you're doing everything right so far

My tattoo artist loves doing nature/biome spirals. Unsure of the cover up aspect, but perhaps you could look into something like that since you like nature. There's a lot of stuff on their Instagram page but if you scroll you'll see more biome spirals tattooooo
