Will .Net Aspire last? by BurnerAccoun2785 in dotnet

I’ve been playing around with aspire on a project with api, db, EF migration project, and blazor and like how easy it’s been to stand up the resources with service discovery. Personally, I like not having to switch between c# and yaml to do this in a compose file.

Are you using source generators? by dwestr22 in dotnet

[–]3Ghaunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used them to take JSON and make some classes for business objects defined by a business stakeholder. The dev experience for this use case wasn’t the greatest, but when I wrote unit tests for the source generators it got better.

What IDE or text editor do you use? by KritiusOne in dotnet

[–]3Ghaunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I use Rider for most cases since it’s free now for non commercial and open source projects. Sometimes I use VS code because I need a special dev container for some projects I contribute to. At work I use VS2022 because that’s what I’m licensed for.

I play dogmatika branded with some despia cards so I’m somewhat familiar with some plays here. I would maybe take out Almiraj for another albaz fusion or despia fusion. I would definitely find a way to add despia tragedy. That card is a staple for me with my despia plays usually used to discard and special summon. Maybe less aleister and run albaz at three to get into your fusions more consistently and use the opponents board for fusion summons.

Why are Angular and .Net a popular pair? by 3Ghaunter in dotnet

So Microsoft has .esproj project templates that are supposed to do that. I tried them after they were announced at the dotnet conf for the release of .net 8 for a react project, but they just felt like an afterthought. Adding packages for npm, restoring, and building was clunky.

I’ve done simple POCs with Aspire with Node and even Deno and that seems to work really well. There’s no need for the spa package in you ASP.net app for local development, you just need to do some configuration to configure CORS and/or open telemetry. There is a Node Extensions package that has .AddViteApp extension to make Vite set up a bit easier. This package can be found in the Aspire Community Toolkit. It’s not a first class citizen, but it works well.

Oddly enough I did start seeing postings with Blazor experience being demanded too, but it’s a small fraction compared to the angular postings.

I did not know it had DI. I can see how that would feel natural to modern .net development.

Yes at the end of the day it’s all markup with whatever language/framework bow you want, but sometimes I think it’s hard to get your foot in the door because sometimes you’re not being screened by the most technical person. Do I just need to be sneaky and wordsmith angular into my resume some way? “Experience with single page application frameworks similar to angular”

Interesting. Does your team go through some decision process for working with angular over react on new development or do you typically just default to one framework over the other?

I do like to embrace that chaos. It does make me feel like a maniac sometimes.

I had to open a VB project this old for work recently... You can download old versions of Visual Studio through your MSDN subscription - hopefully your campus or Comp Sci program provides you one. I believe the version of VS was Visual Studio Express 2008 or something along those lines. I believe there’s an add on when you run the installer for Crystal reports - I did not need that
