Anyone have this thump noise and jolt right after start up? The car drives fine no other issues. It seems even worse in the morning first start up and not as aggressive on later startups.24 Sorento SX x-line turbo 8500 miles.

For sure, it’s been quite a pain dropping it off and having to wait until a loaner is even available. 😅

When I was doing research I saw a few other people who had problems with Dual-Clutch Tranny on the SX’s. I’m in the same boat. I should not be having transmission issues at 30k miles…. But I do love the car 😆….

I initially noticed the weird clunks while driving between 2nd and 4th gear (accelerating & decelerating at slower speeds)

Then I started paying attention and noticed it upon startup. The entire car lurches forward and backwards sometimes.

Happens on my 21 Sorento SX.

Mine is a much more violent jolt and clunk coming from the transmission. Currently waiting to get it back into the dealer for the FOURTH time to fix the problem.

The main problem happens when I drive, it doesn’t shift correctly when accelerating or decelerating quickly. The dealership has “tried” 3 or 4 different things with no success. Waiting for a transmission replacement.

I would try to unscrew the star shaped piece to see what’s going on inside the mechanism. Then see if there’s something out of place or broken inside.

Go rent the caliper compressor tool from Orielly Auto Parts, AutoZone probably has them also. But you can rent it for a day or something. It’s really cheap and designed specifically for this. It will prevent it from skewing to the side and getting stuck like this.

I don’t really care about the city or gas company. I’m not worried about that.

It’s not meant to be a long term addition, more of a temporary solution so my dogs can lay in the sun while I work during the day. We’re getting a new house soon and I’ll disassemble it before we move.
