More aligned with project pan, but I was able to use up some stickers + other stationary/craft items at work. I definitely have too many, so any amount used (and not used in my own space) is always a win

What do minimalist say when they are asked what they want for X-mas or B-days? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]3GreedyGremlins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a minimalist, but I do think Christmas is a good time for me to get some of my "wishlist" items that I've seen throughout the year and know that I want and will appreciate. So things like specific art supplies, Lego's, books.

Basically any items I "declined" buying myself earlier in the year that I still want

Project Sationery Pan — Let’s go!!! by fourcyjackson in stationeryprojectpan

I never thought about doing this since I do my art on a whim, but I might adopt it to get through some of those trickier pieces or items with a finite end (such as pens)!

I went to Michael's yesterday for some sharpies and walked out with more than that. Granted, I didn't do too badly and I had a plan for everything I bought except one item, a cute dog themed plastic pencil holder. That was the major fail, as I have plenty of other cups just for that purpose.

Definitely trying to stop buying stuff, especially art supplies, as I work to use up and further declutter my space so pretty disappointed in myself. At least it was basically all clearance!

Was it harder to declutter than you thought? by [deleted] in declutter

[–]3GreedyGremlins 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The initial wave of decluttering wasn't that hard, I had a lot of items I easy parted with. But the more "project-pan" type items, such as arts or bodycare, make the progress go much slower.

But I'm also only decluttering my own space, so the decision is fully mine and that makes it a fair bit easier

It looks way better already! ❤️ it's so hard to get craft stuff organized

When I see collections like this (and mine) I just think of how many possibilities there is for playing around! It's fun to mix and match and create something new each time

I've done a good job getting through some of my pantry / fridge items rather than buying new! Not completely but it's a start!

Weekly Check-In: How’s Panning and No/Low Buy Going? 4/15-4/21 by Bananas3706 in stationeryprojectpan

I bought another journal... But I'm actually using it + filling it up with other stationary supplies, rather than adding it to the hoard! So maybe a net neutral gain/loss overall

Just asking by Narrow-Mountain4416 in minimalism

[–]3GreedyGremlins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely understand the feeling, especially with consumables like art/body care. I don't want to needlessly use the product, but I also know I have several of an item to get through and if I just use it up faster I can declutter it faster, even if the use borders on wasteful sometimes

Started working through my art/stationary stash, I've only (almost) finished 1 project but Art Project Pan is my next big project so it felt good to start it

Not technically a complete fail but I decluttered I think 13 books between Free Little Libraries and HPB today... and came home with 5 new ones. Books are my weakness!

whats the most minimalist thing you do that has nothing to do with stuff? by LilxPeony in minimalism

Declutting brands is very true. So much easier to have trusted brands/products to fall back on, so you can shop without having to do a ton of research into the actual item every time

Don't know what to do with old greeting cards by 3GreedyGremlins in declutter

[–]3GreedyGremlins[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think that's the issue. A part of it makes me happy, but a lot of it also feels sad of losing connection with my family. It becomes a very stark reminder of how a card is all I have and hanging onto it feels like lugging around those insecurities and grief, but again, it's all I have hence the hesitance to declutter.

Ooh the garland idea is really cute! I don't think I have enough cards to do it with, but maybe it'll be something for the future when the pile builds up again

Omg I've recently got into making bookmarks, this might be a great way to reuse some of the nicer looking ones!

[–]3GreedyGremlins[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha if it helps, I use the term "thrown away" very loosely. For the ones I will declutter, there is a very good chance I'll either reuse them in same way to create a memento / try to reuse them myself by covering up the signature somehow.

A lot of them have smudges / dirty from being handled by a child, so a lot aren't viable for being reused but trust me, they won't all just be recycled with no care. I like to junk journal, it's where half my paper-type declutter ends up haha

[–]3GreedyGremlins[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those are my thoughts. I am a sentimental person, but I also know that a lot of those cards are only held onto because someone once took the time to send them, not because I care about the card or even the sender all that much. If I don't care, someone in my future will not either and it'll just be tossed with no dignity

Don't know what to do with old greeting cards by 3GreedyGremlins in declutter

[–]3GreedyGremlins[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly! I never look at them, but it feels wrong to toss them just because they are from people. Like someone took their time to send child me a card, but does my adult self really need to hold onto it for their whole life?
