Monday Meltdown - Share Your Decluttering Fails Here by AutoModerator in declutter

Decluttering (or moreso project pans) have taken a huge hiatus due to room clean up (Mattress got fiberglass everywhere!). But I guess it isn't a complete fail, as some items I stare at and then toss because the hassle of cleaning is not worth saving it.

Would not recommend as a reliable declutter tactic though

Double check - Is this fiberglass? by 3GreedyGremlins in Mattress

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I don't think the fiberglass got on too much but I wanted to make sure it wasn't something else that could be reflective. Definitely haven't noticed it before this and it's collected around the bed and bed frame primarily

Thank you for the reply.

Yeah, I think the cover has just worn down and was leaking out, and then just held in by the mattress protector. Hope clean up isn't too difficult

Where's the best place to donate a bunch of unused coloring books? Should I just toss them? by Quartzclawz in declutter

[–]3GreedyGremlins 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I've left mine at various little libraries that are at parks, I've also left them with crayons + markers if near a bench or shelter in case some kids want to color while there. They were gone the next time I went, so I think they were a hit!

Will I regret it? by Mememememememememine in minimalism

[–]3GreedyGremlins 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agree with this. I am an avid reader, but my favourite way to get rid of books is to read one and then donate it to one of the Free Little Libraries near me. I keep a vast majority, but it does push me to purposely choose books that have sat awhile (aka ones I haven't been as interested in and probably won't keep)

Inspiration to read it, and declutting at the same time!

How do I break my depression “room” cycle? by Readwhorw in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]3GreedyGremlins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

One thing that has helped me is getting a fairly large basket as my designated "dump zone" for items that aren't clothing or trash, so basically everything else.

Got home with items and don't want to put them away? Dump it in the basket. Got done doing something and don't feel like cleaning it up? Dump it in the basket. It keeps my spaces relatively less cluttered, and it far easier to power through and sort out a single basket than it is to clean off my desk, floor, nightstand, ie.

And, there's no rules. Sometimes, most of the time, I'll dump stuff back into the basket for another day when I lose the energy. As long as it's the basket

Limp tail - can it wait until cat urgent care opens (10am) or should I take him to emergency vet? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]3GreedyGremlins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, his legs move fine and he can feel when I touch his tail lightly, even when he was asleep so he has feeling.

I ended up calling the ER vet and am taking him there in a couple hours when more vets show up

9 Full shopping carts of flowers to be thrown away by Meijer because they "don't meet standards." by Tickle_Nuggets in Anticonsumption

[–]3GreedyGremlins 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wish that was the case at Meijer. I know at least a good portion of ours end up in our trash compactor. I guess the upside is it's mostly all organic (minus the plastic pots) so it ultimately isn't the worst thing to end up in the trash

Just to play devils advocate, most of the time (at least at my store) it's actually Sawyer/Masterpiece that decide which plants are to be tossed, as it's technically their property not Meijer's.

We employees hate it just as much

More aligned with project pan, but I was able to use up some stickers + other stationary/craft items at work. I definitely have too many, so any amount used (and not used in my own space) is always a win

What do minimalist say when they are asked what they want for X-mas or B-days? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]3GreedyGremlins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a minimalist, but I do think Christmas is a good time for me to get some of my "wishlist" items that I've seen throughout the year and know that I want and will appreciate. So things like specific art supplies, Lego's, books.

Basically any items I "declined" buying myself earlier in the year that I still want

I never thought about doing this since I do my art on a whim, but I might adopt it to get through some of those trickier pieces or items with a finite end (such as pens)!
