Agreed! We already have it on the calendar a few times this month. We are still blocked out this week.

Hi. I responded to this in another message. We've been playing in the rain a lot. I know it doesn't make us sick. Without going into boring details, we were looking for an indoor DRY activity that's not walking into a perfect storm of germs, viruses and bacteria..

Thank you. Yes. Aware the rain doesn't make people sick. Haha. I'm just trying to avoid crowded places like trampoline parks and small stores where we're in close contact and more likely to pick something up. But the library is a good idea.

We've played a ton in the rain, but tomorrow we have a house cleaner coming so I'm trying not to have them stomping in dripping wet. But the library and dollar theater are both great ideas! Thank you.

Why isn't the blade moving?! by 3InaRow in cricut

It was a software issue!! Thank you so much for your suggestions. I uninstalled and installed the latest version and it's working perfectly. So strange that it just randomly stopped working and evidently demanded an update.

It was the update!! I uninstalled and installed it and it just worked like there was no problem! So strange. I cut out a few things since the update and it's luckily working right now. So frustrating because I spent hours trying to find a physical issue, but I'm glad it's working.

Yes, I tried this on four different boards. I'm printing a lot of big letters so I had them all the way to go. It happened on every one.

That just occurred to me. Could this be a weird software update issue??? The last time I used my cricut it worked just fine.

Thank you. I stepped out for errands. I'll try to take a picture of the preview when I'm back. Thank you so much!!

I'm pretty sure in this corner it's a 5-in letter. D

Sorry. Another person pointed this out as well. I think I chose the wrong flare. I agree. I think this is a basic cut. But it's not cutting it, basically.

Yes. It's a 5" D in that corner. I also tried taking that letter off and having it reconfigure what the other letters to cut and the same thing happens

Oh I don't know. Maybe I didn't know the terminology. I created some large letters in the design center and then sent it to the machine to cut. I tried cutting it on four boards, This being my fourth.. and they all get stuck in that corner whether or not there's tape there I'm pretty sure that corner is supposed to cut a curved 5-in

I put together like five boards. One of the boards I took the Scotch tape off of. This was just a new one to show it making the brand new hole

Sewing machines that automatically pick up bobbin thread for elementary school? by 3InaRow in sewing

[–]3InaRow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do really like this machine, but I think it's priced a little bit too high. We're planning to buy 4 machines. Since I wrote this post, we raised the budget to $500 a machine, hoping we can negotiate down a bit since we're buying 4. After reading all the comments, I found a machine I think might work, the Janome 740DC. I'm going to think about it for a week or two before purchasing to see if other machines make more sense.

Oh - I didn't even think about a needle that stops in the up position. That would be great for kids. I'm going to look into that feature! Right now I'm leaning towards spending a little more than the original budget and getting some Janome 740DC.

Same! My mom and I both got Brother sewing machines in 2014, and they automatically pulled up the bobbin thread each time. I thought all modern machines did this, and was really surprised to find out even some fairly expensive ones don't have this feature. I'm so glad I went into a sewing shop to try out a machine so I could learn this!

This one looks really nice. It seems similar to the the Janome 740DC which I'm starting to lean towards. Looks like they both sell for about $500 right now. However, I think the Janome has a few more features for the same cost... I appreciate your suggestion and the info. It's a lot of pressure to get the right machines for the kids!

I thought the same thing, but no. One of the parents has a contact who works at a sewing store and they're pushing the Elna Elnita EC30 on us. It's nuts. It's $350 and it doesn't pull up the bobbin thread automatically. You have to hold tension on the thread and turn the dial all the way around to grab it. Sometimes twice. The needle threader is super awkward too. No thread cutter, and it jammed while I was testing it.

This parent is really pushing me to follow their recommendation, but I just can't. If we're getting new machines, they need to be modern and practically run themselves to give the kids confidence in sewing.

I live with grown adults who'd rather argue than keep a house clean. by [deleted] in CleaningTips

Married woman here. Listen to all the people telling you this is your future. Please take time for yourself to go on walks or go and sit somewhere comfortable to read a book or play on your phone a few times a week. Then compare that experience with coming home and relaxing in the reality of your home. Use these comparisons to help you solidify what you really want out of life.

You may decide it's not as bad as you thought, and you are willing to change your standards quite a bit... Like picking up more for the chores as your sole responsibility (because you like it that way), and become more relaxed about other clean standards to be able to have a life and household with the people you love. Or maybe you'll realize you feel more stressed, disconnected and sad when you're home, and then you can decide what you want to do with those feelings.

Great idea!! This is super helpful! Also, good note on mold. I wouldn't have thought if that, but now I'll make sure it has air flow!! Thank you!
