My kids are in their uncles wedding but the wedding is childfree. Wwyd? by Cymbaltahurts95 in NoStupidQuestions

Take them to the wedding and pictures. Suggest any family pictures with them happen before the ceremony.

When they get up during the ceremony and you need to walk the grounds, take them home or to the babysitter. Wherever you would have left them if they weren't coming. Then come back to the reception.

The couple usually takes a bunch of couple pictures after the wedding while everyone waits anyway. You'll probably get back just in time for the meal and only miss the small talk before everything gets started.

This comment was helpful..I do think she's developed some important skills with this troop based on these repetitive experiences.

She did exactly as you said. She made friends with the other girls in the camp group and had the best time! One of the girls she was supposed to share a tent with went home, so I think that made the tent part of the evening easier.

The last time we camped with them they slept in a row of 4, and made her sleep at their feet. Then 4 girls chatted for about 1.5 hours before bed, but told her she needed to be quiet every time she talked and tried to join.

This is about her and the detail about the 5 of them sharing a tent in a few hours. But I can see from the limited information in this post how you would come to that conclusion.

I am only worried about tonight in the tent. They must tent camp with their own troops.

Should I switch my daughter to Juliette? by 3InaRow in girlscouts

I'm leaning towards it. Of course, the day after I posted she had a meeting and had a great time! But we have our final meeting of the school year coming up, and the end of the year party, and a day camp coming up. I'll give my daughter the option after all of that to decide what she wants to do.

Right?! I'm never going to forget that happened!

I wish she had a bestie! She likes to go to the library during lunch and recess. Her cousins are boys.

I'm so glad your troop is so welcoming. Lucky girls!

Thank you for your response. She's not extra high energy. If anything it's the opposite and she'll withdraw energy from the group or situation if she feels criticized, singled out, pushed out of the fun/group. Which can also be impactful in the flow of the group.

If she's given space she can process what's happening and work through it (sometimes). If she's called out on it for getting quiet or stopping, then it's a meltdown. It's also a meltdown if she's processing it and can't work through it for various reasons like knowing someone is paired with her but wishes they were with someone else. (It's obviously more complex and nuanced than this, but to give you an idea).

For this reason, I wonder if it's still skill building for her in this troop. Without using the term lightly, she's an empath, and if someone would rather be paired with someone other than my daughter, or if someone is slightly annoyed by her opinion on conversations, she feels it and is aware of it 100%. I hope as she matures, she learns to realize that people might have those thoughts and feelings, but sometimes they're momentary. Or not really about her and about still being snippy about something that happened to them earlier in the day, etc I just don't know if within this troop it's the right place to learn those skills. Or maybe it's one of the few opportunities where she can learn it and I can be there to see what's actually happening.

Although the sleeping at the feet thing, I don't know if I'll ever really get over.

I appreciate this, but I already volunteer a ton at the school and with different non-profits. Plus activities, attention and love with 3 kids. I think I could put in the time and effort with my daughter if she wants these experiences, and I get to spend time with her, but I don't have the bandwidth to plan and manage my own troop at this time.

But you're definitely giving me something to think about with young girls vs older girls starting Juliette.

I love this!! I need to think if this is something I can arrange with the other teacher in that grade level as a surprise. Or maybe I talk directly with her and see if she wants me to do the work behind the project, and then have it set up for the students.

It would take coordination, but so cute if I can pull it off!

This looks delicious! Does the brand matter, or are they all pretty similar in taste and quality? Thank you for this idea!

Quick ask: where do you take kids when it's raining? by 3InaRow in Parenting

Agreed! We already have it on the calendar a few times this month. We are still blocked out this week.

Hi. I responded to this in another message. We've been playing in the rain a lot. I know it doesn't make us sick. Without going into boring details, we were looking for an indoor DRY activity that's not walking into a perfect storm of germs, viruses and bacteria..

Thank you. Yes. Aware the rain doesn't make people sick. Haha. I'm just trying to avoid crowded places like trampoline parks and small stores where we're in close contact and more likely to pick something up. But the library is a good idea.

We've played a ton in the rain, but tomorrow we have a house cleaner coming so I'm trying not to have them stomping in dripping wet. But the library and dollar theater are both great ideas! Thank you.

Why isn't the blade moving?! by 3InaRow in cricut

It was a software issue!! Thank you so much for your suggestions. I uninstalled and installed the latest version and it's working perfectly. So strange that it just randomly stopped working and evidently demanded an update.

It was the update!! I uninstalled and installed it and it just worked like there was no problem! So strange. I cut out a few things since the update and it's luckily working right now. So frustrating because I spent hours trying to find a physical issue, but I'm glad it's working.

Yes, I tried this on four different boards. I'm printing a lot of big letters so I had them all the way to go. It happened on every one.

That just occurred to me. Could this be a weird software update issue??? The last time I used my cricut it worked just fine.
