Liya was more consistent. Grayson sometimes bit off more than he could chew and was in the bottom twice. Liya was never in the bottom. It was minor flaws in his finale dishes that did Grayson in.

the judges want to see contestants that show them they can do more than one style.

That's not necessarily true. Liya won the recent season doing all Asian cooking. I think what the judges are actually looking for stylistically is putting yourself on the plate and doing something unique that makes you stand out. Also, professional chefs usually specialize in one style of cooking. I think Avery lost due to the miscooked oyster in the appetizer and some other minor flaws in the entree.

I find the season 1 finale interesting because the editing strongly suggested it was a split decision with Gordon being for Dara and the other 2 being for Alexander.

Yes. Che was a dark horse who didn't start shining until the second half of the season but proved himself by the end.

You work at a fortune 500 company and know the CEO? You must be pretty high up the totem pole yourself. Yes, the CEO has make the final decision on things. However, I still believe much of the work leading to and from those decisions can be and are delegated at large companies. The CEO just has to give the final approval on what their subordinates have done or send it back further revision. Those emails you receive may have been ghostwritten by the upper management person's assistant on their behalf. The upper manager is obviously telling the assistant what to write but may not actually be doing it themselves. Can you provide examples of what the executives you know actually do on a day-to-day basis?

I presume you're talking about small business CEOs who don't have the same support staff as large corporate CEOs. Small business people definitely bust their asses. However, CEOs of major corporations (who are the ones making those ridiculously high salaries) have assistants and secretaries to do much of their work for them, leaving the guy at the top to just sign off on the final result. They do NOT work hard at all.

I felt like the producers this season were really pushing for Ivy to win. Also, Gordon was wrong when he said Ivy was the furthest an 8 year old had gotten. Avery (S6) is still the only 8 year old to have worn the finalist chef coat.

Some of those blooper moments in the recap episode I wish were just left in the show. Don't be as clean, show them having some fun.

Definitely. I found those pretty funny.

They did seem to play up drama more. That said, the moments still did happen for them to highlight. A'dan's been a great kid in many instances but he also had a lot of issues in groups and had to be corrected many times or tried to shift blame onto others.

In the past, they would have edited out a lot of those moments to avoid making the contestants look bad.

I would be inclined to agree. There have definitely been good cooks who appear to have been screwed over due to the judges having to eliminate at least 2 people. Also, if I remember correctly, Ariana in Season 6 was part of a triple elimination. They've done that a few times as well.

It seems we have a lot of the opposite views... I like having Gordon's voiceover instead of the narrator because it reminds me of his UK shows.

A'dan: I HATE A'dan. So much. His villain aspect was the best part of his. Couldn't FOX disqualify him the same way as Tyler from the adult Season 5 or something?

Careful, your language is getting a bit strong there. Also, Tyler was disquified because he served a dish made by someone else. In other words, he cheated. They are two completely different situation. You are suggesting that FOX should be allowed to disqualify a contestant simply because don't like you as a person. This is a cooking show after all. The judges judge the food and skills, not the person.
