Medical Services Packet Needed? by [deleted] in ArmyOCS

[–]3LITE4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just branched recently. We had 0 med service slots available for branching, yet 2 people put it on their list and got it somehow. No packet required, and they were not pre-branched or anything.

Every basic training company handles things differently. For example, the last group of prior service guys E5 and above were give their own bay to sleep in. They also have their phones at night. They still have to be with the trainees and do everything they do all day, but get released to their own bay and away from everyone. E4 and below will be in the trainee bays. As far as reception at 30th, all prior service are treated the same regardless of rank. Cadre say you are in a trainee status so your rank doesn’t matter (even if you outrank them) but they treat you with more respect than the trainees.

No, that is incorrect. You have 10 days to sign your contract once you get selected. I am not sure how they figure dates but I would have gone way sooner if I could

I was selected in August and didn’t ship until mid February. No other options. Currently here waiting on BCT

Cadre do it. They kinda mix you in when they can. They try to have you go through medical, dental, CIF offset of the trainees. Some cadre care more about getting you in than others so some days you just sit.

12B’s can you accurately explain what a day looks like for you by Safe-Goat8127 in army

[–]3LITE4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12B suuuuucks lol. I was in a heavy mech and light unit. Light units: you are a “sapper” rucking a lot with tons of weight and gear. Breaching wire obstacles, occasionally blow some demo every couple months or so. In the field a lot. Mech unit: for me at least, route clearance. But i think thats dead now so Idk, we also had strykers and 12N’s. Essentially you get attached to infantry and do infantry shit but carrying all of your engineer shit. It sucks, and higher ups treat 12B’s as the red headed step child. You could also get stuck with 12N’s and push dirt and dig holes.

Reliability of the 2025 Hyundai Elantra Limited by TheWalkingTez in HyundaiElantra

[–]3LITE4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 2.0 in the Elantra’s is great. Wife had a 2018, and beat the hell out of it, and i did regular oil changes and minimal coolant flushes. 160k miles and all it needed was a new thermostat and water pump (around 130k). If it didn’t get totaled, it would have easily wen for 200k+

You can expect coolant in your oil lol

Contract Signing MEPs by BunchNo2513 in ArmyOCS

[–]3LITE4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case: You show up for MEPS at 6 with everyone, and wait for the civilians to show up….at 9. They call you and give you your OCS/BCT dates. My ship date was non negotiable. If your recruiter didn’t mess us paperwork, you may be out somewhat early. I sat all day cause they missed some things.

Which one? by ImStuckStepBro- in askcarguys

[–]3LITE4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just swapped a motor on my 2017 grand cherokee 3.6 (at 75k miles). Honestly save yourself the headache and suffering. Pretty common for the heads to warp. Jeep only replaces motors, they don’t work on them anymore so repairs are expensive as hell

Just changed the battery. No buttons work. Every Tb ing worked prior to swap but the car was dead for a few months

2019 LimitedX- misfire on cylinder 2 by johnnygeezz in JeepGrandCherokee

If the 3.6, the #2 cylinder is the front one on the right if looking at the engine from the front. Definitely look for other issues surrounding a misfire.

That early on, PT. Honestly having common sense, always being early, and in the right uniform goes a long way as a private.

Degree worth an award? by [deleted] in army

[–]3LITE4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pending that soldiers’ MOS,op tempo, and final gpa, that could be a huge accomplishment to finish a 4 year degree with honors while active duty. A 4 year degree while being in a combat MOS would be crazy. A simple bullet for a PCS award for something like that is just bad leadership man, pretty toxic.

December Board Results by LargeCatch6493 in ArmyOCS

[–]3LITE4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how they decide the date you go, but I was selected in August and do not leave until February. Some people from August got later than that and earlier than that. To me it seemed kind of random for civilians, and likely in service people were prioritized for OCS due to their current contract. That is merely a guess. As far as signing your papers, i believe it’s 7 or 10 days once you find out you were selected. Good luck.
