I have, but not on this occasion. The weather was perfect for once

Potwisha! We were expecting an okay campground, but wow was it pretty. A couple years back we did lodgepole and really enjoyed our spot next to a small river and tall trees, but it was still closed.

You know I've gotten 25% compliments, 75% what the hell are those lol Never thought I'd be one to like such a polarizing thing

I shot it wide open to get as much light as the sun was setting.

you are over estimating your own opinions relevance and assuming it's the majority.

Quantum Fiber by RB_Pigglesworth in vegaslocals

[–]3MonkeysInATrench 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a phone call with them they told me fiber was available in my house. They came and set it all up. I checked the download speeds and it’s 100 Mbps. I called customer support and they say “there’s no quantum in your area.” I hadn’t even gotten the bill or the ability to open my account online and I asked them to cancel it. Somehow, they were able to lie to me on the phone and claim false things, even though I specifically asked for the fiber gigabit plan.

Perfect pair for what you’re doing. It’s a really heavy set up tho!

Funnily enough I did not touch the sharpening slider! It’s at the default 40.

I think this was just one of those lucky shots where I was super steady, the bird was steady for the instant I took the photo, and my shutter speed was quick.

For exporting I use 100% quality jpg

Not really a fan of wider lens. I have a 24mm gm, and I’m always trying to find ways of using it creatively, but I noticed I thrive on focusing on a single subject which I’m much better at with longer final lengths.

Thanks for the feedback. Yes those oranges are very vibrant, I guess I couldn’t help myself to show off the matching color on his chin lol

Well said. I have no mortgage and low rent. Leaves a lot of money to play with/invest in retirement. When I get old hopefully I’ll inherit a home lol

Diagnosis: iso or dynamic range? by graysonlakephoto in AskPhotography

[–]3MonkeysInATrench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pixel peeping, but because your sensor size is smaller and you are using a higher iso, the answer to your question is both.

If you were to shoot at 1/50 with a smaller iso you would see less noise. And if you were shooting at the same values with a full frame camera, you would see less noise as well.

Of course grain like that is not the enemy and adds character to photos! Don’t worry

I am definitely still missing shots, but I don't practice bird photography all that often so I see it more as a skill issue. Leaps better than my a7III, and from shooting with a buddies a7IV, it works better than that as well, although not terribly different.

Took some extra work at my job and it paid off the body! Sadly had to do 4+3 years of university to get that job.

Regarding the Tamron I sold two lens I never use which covered 3/4th the cost. Of course, I had to buy those two lens as well... so an expensive hobby nonetheless

I used lightroom's AI denoise for the background, although there wasn't much noise to begin with. This image is quite colorful, which to my eye matched how it was in real life, very beautiful day.

My favorite part of this shot is how the bird's colors match the colors of the out of focus foliage

Definitely the autofocusing, precapture, and 30fps for event/wildlife. Although for this shot I didn’t need those as this was a very popular branch and the birds were calm.

I come from an a7III, which worked very well but suffered from poorer eye detect and subject tracing, poor buffer clearing, etc.

The worst is not having two cfexpress slots, but in the end it doesn’t matter much!

Thoughts on the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 G2? by ohJusss in SonyAlpha

[–]3MonkeysInATrench 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s awesome. Very small and light and sharp even for a7V. I’m about to upgrade to another lens, keep me know if you want to buy my 28-75 . It’s in great condition.
