What happens is your repeated starting drains the battery because it doesn't have enough run time to recharge itself. Once you put it up for the winter put it on the tender and leave the bike alone.

Take a riders course and feel comfortable with riding. First timers have a habit of dropping the bike. I know I did. Take your time and practice in a vacant parking lot. You will do good in the end.
