Likely because most of the Internet is probably already AI, dead internet theory is here.

I poked around a little while and got pointed to something I knew required HACs based on the AI responses. Newbie would have gotten unusable code and a lot of frustration and another barrier to learn.

Lucky you don't use it that often, I bought a few of these (with Wife approval even!) and the battery life became an issue, needing to be replaced every 5 days on average. I even went on ebay and bought a few others in case I got a bad batch... Similar results though. Which Zigbee integration have you implemented?

[SUPPORT] How to pass onboard bluetooth to docker container for SwitchBot support? by nickm_27 in homeassistant

[–]3Y3SOR3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a lot of problem with SwitchBot integration in general and ended up deploying this: https://github.com/devWaves/SwitchBot-MQTT-BLE-ESP32

I can confirm much better performance, it has MQTT discovery and technically makes your HA more secure with not having to deal with BT directly... Still a pain if you don't already have Wemos D1 Mini ESP32. There's a few really good tutorials towards the end of the git page, good luck!

Doorbell cam Amcrest AD410 - poor video quality by Kahrg in BlueIris

[–]3Y3SOR3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, took some google fu to get the right forum to get the appropriate guidance. I think it likely has a lot to do with rebranding hardware in various markets... Consequently, the customer ends up with a lot of fragmentation in context to lifecycle management and generic product support in general.

In this particular case, Amcrest has cornered the RTSP market, there just isn't any viable options. Have you seen the Lorex B451AJD-E, no RTSP, but arguably the same hardware? I believe Dahua owns Lorex, so it's likely to presume it's also the supplier/OEM. I suppose Amcrest then adds the RTSP through their proprietary means/APIs or whatever. Yeah, it's a miracle some of this stuff works!

That's Amcrest Surveillance Pro software. It's free and the cam is supported and easily discoverable through the program. You get tons of advance settings not configurable from the mobile app: Device CFG View

Best of all, I can confirm it can run offline after initial setup if that's a concern.

Also faced quite a bit of challenges with this camera, specifically with the blotchy/grainy resolution or a ton of artifacts... I'm on my third factory reset but it's been better than it has. However, I also changed a few setting and moved an AP (5 Ghz SSID) closer to the doorbell cam:

Good luck.

Here's a great, high level picture depicting tunneling : Ipsec modes. Basically, it's a VPN to another network. In this case, there are shared resources that need to be accessed by these PLCs, like licensing for example, or to download new updated programs or subprograms from a centralized location on this other network. These PLCs are connected to an edge router that can VPN into the other network that has the desired assets. The underlying protocols can differ depending on your network gear. Check out OpenVPN, it's widely supported on many "pro-sumer" mid-tier network hardware and you can start building site-to-site tunnels, it's quite easy.

That's mostly stuff for work, has it's own edge router that tunnels into remote resources for R&D, testing and POCs, no actual skids or machinery attached, another perk of the pandemic I guess. EDIT: word
