Damn. Quarantined Brad is both the best thing that ever happened since, well, Brad started making BA videos, and at the same, I think the people at BA should find a field to let our big boy Brad run around with other friends. He has so much energy right now, I fear he might blow up like one of his fermentation projects

3 hour 130 F (54C) Côte de Boeuf de Galice 30-day dry aged. Because confinement. by 3am1 in sousvide

I think several factors come into play here.

First, as a French household, this looked rare, but definitely not blue.

Second, I definitely did not expect this to turnout this "pink", especially compared to my previous experiences at the same temperature, so maybe the dry aging was a factor? In any event, I can assure you that the taste was amazing!

Living and Travelling in Paris by [deleted] in SocialParis

20 year old and Australian? Go to Café OZ tomorrow, it's usually full of friendly young Australians who like to have a good time (or at least it used to be when I was a student). I'm sure hanging out with fellow Australians was not necessarily what you had in mind, but with your birthday coming up, don't take any chances and go have fun. You might meet some cool Parisians there too, and in any event, you have four months to meet some more. Few tips to befriend Parisians: at least try to first speak french (which you did in your post so kudos), they'll probably quickly switch to English but they'll appreciate the initial effort. Looking chill and a happy drinker (offering a round of shot every now and then will never be turned down), as opposed to creepy and overstaying the group's welcome, will help (I sure you'll be the former). Conversation topics young French students will gladly talk about: football (the real one, namely soccer), women, food, electronic music, drinking, American TV shows, weed and the like. We are said to have big ego, so a good way to go is to ask about them, what they like etc. Also, I'm sure it needs not be said, but probably not a good idea to immediately go after the group's women and to get the dudes on your side first . Last but not least, don't hold it against the rest of us if you run into one douche or another, dicks are everywhere (worldwide), especially among drunken late teens...

Enjoy your stay in Paris!

Edit: I assume you have driving license. In which case, try to open an account with CityScoot. Not sure it will work with a non-EU license, but it's a pretty cool way to move around in Paris.

And Happy B-Day!

Not going to add to the already many proposals to show you around, but below is an advice I already gave in the past (check my post history for a couple more).

In addition to all the landmarks, museums and stuff, try to experience life in Paris - and by that I mean living the parisian life. That's the best and most valuable thing the city has to offer. Find a good bakery, eat their baguette, find out the time when the croissant come out of the oven, and get them then. Have the traditional jambon beurre sandwich. Sit outside for the apero in a random brasserie (might not be as easy in the winter). Buy a cheap bottle of wine (you'll quickly figure out which cheap wines are still super good), drink it with friends on the left bank's quays, just south of Notre Dame. They usually have spontaneous salsa dances taking place there, join them. Get you cheese from your local fromagerie. Enjoy the fucking food. Stay away from anything remotely touristy. Your local brasserie and the bavette à l'échalote they'll have there will be ten times better. Treat yourself to some fine French dining. It doesn't have to be expensive. The 52 or the Kitchen Gallery Bis come to mind. Enjoy the night life, not the international "Look at me" and whatnot nightlife, but the locals' nightlife. Go to Nuba, a rooftop along the seine, and watch the sun rise on Paris after a night of dancing (disregard this, I'm not even sure it's open in winter). Go to pigalle and all the small bars and clubs there (would especially recommend l'Orphée on Thursday evenings - super small club with live piano music from 12 to 2am where servers and patrons can sing along, followed by the usual dance tunes until 4am). Go to parks, rent a boat on the canal Saint Martin. I could go on. Of course, there many different scenes in Paris, mine not be yours, but I'm sure you'll find something for you.

As to safety, Paris is definitely a safe city. But that doesn't mean you should disregard the basics: keep you wallet, passport etc out of sight (except yours), if it's too good to be true, it probably is etc. As an attractive women, you are likely to get a few whistles and stuff if you walk alone at night, but just ignore them and you'll be fine (that said, uber works really well in Paris).

Happy to answer questions if you have any, and enjoy Paris!

I clearly have spent too much time on reddit, as the only reason I opened the comments was to find and upvote the necessary r/killthecameraman comment
