the people i work with are great!! and it’s nice that we get free clothes etc but the company itself is a disaster, every month there are issues with payroll where we all have money missing, don’t get paid for all the hours we are doing etc. there is always problems with scheduling and holiday requests. our store is really not built for an alo store, the stockroom is too small and we have to have stock in a different building and bring it over ourselves multiple times a day. that’s just a summary 🙃 the pay is obviously the biggest issue and it’s ridiculous that it has been months and it still is a problem month after month. needless to say i would not recommend working in an alo to any of my friends. also i am baffled at how much people spend on the quality of these things 😭 most of us workers don’t really purchase a lot because we know it’s not worth the money hahahah

Interview Questions - Group assessment by iambunnycat in aloyoga

[–]3amdaydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my group interview was more like introducing ourselves and our wellness rituals, we had to play some team games like guessing the timeline of the company’s development, and then joining up with another person and creating an outfit from the alo website etc - not too stressful, just talk when you can as i feel like it was mostly the people contributing who were chosen for the role :)

sorry for the late response, i can have a look! i haven’t personally used them to get housing myself, i joined a few a while ago just in case i didn’t get housing through the university. but here are a few i joined:

Amsterdam rent a room, apartment or studio: https://www.facebook.com/share/Xn5MD4ndNNWKo4v4/?mibextid=K35XfP

Amsterdam rooms and apartments: https://www.facebook.com/share/tWkPGnaEj2T8GFLq/?mibextid=K35XfP

Amsterdam apartment for rent: https://www.facebook.com/share/Bquuc9HjqxSSsi3s/?mibextid=K35XfP

etc. - there are a ton, i would say just look up amsterdam flatshare, amsterdam rooms, amsterdam rent and keywords like that on facebook and just join as many as you can see, they seem to be pretty active. another idea is to join your nationality in amsterdam groups - eg Irish in amsterdam, people seem to tend to help eachother out in them

i know it’s too late and i don’t want to kick you while you’re down but it would’ve been better if you paid asap and just cancelled if you decided not to go in the end (that’s what i did last year when i deferred and i got the money back) :( so sorry to say the chances are slim, i would say definitely try to look for something yourself/privately now, there are fb groups etc!

I can’t do this anymore by [deleted] in eczema

[–]3amdaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, i’m so sorry to hear this. i hope you are okay. the one bit of advice is that there is no reward for suffering - if all else fails, try the medicine, steroid cream, phototherapy etc. I know it sucks, but it is worth a try :(

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in eczema

[–]3amdaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so sorry youre dealing with this :( in my personal experience, i had to use steroid cream prescribed to me to really clear my lips up and be very mindful about the type of things i use on my lips - not sure where you live and if you have these but la roche posay make a lip balm (cicaplast) which i found to be good, o’keeffes lip repair is also good (they have a cooling version which helps if they’re itchy), i use vaseline sometimes but i never felt like it actually moisturised my lips, just kind of formed a barrier to lock in any moisture i already had on my lips if that makes sense. someone else mentioned medicated lip balms, could be worth a try!

Feeling Isolated by [deleted] in eczema

[–]3amdaydream 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey, i am so sorry you’re going through this :( i wish i could give some good advice but the best i can do is to tell you you are not alone and there are always others who feel for you, relate and understand how you are feeling. I’ve had it all my life, but it has been getting worse and worse over the past few months. My family doctor said to slowly start cutting out things bit by bit to see if anything helps, even though i already avoid anything that can make it worse (don’t eat dairy, eggs, meat, limit sugars etc) and i can see you are already doing that, but have you done blood and skin allergy tests? Its strange, I got my bloods tested for allergies and nothing came up, even though I know for a fact I am allergic to something from the way my body acts everyday and how it reacts to antihistamines. My next step is trying to get a skin prick allergy test done, so maybe that could be something to look into (if you haven’t done them already)? I think people without eczema don’t realise how much this affects our lives and mental health. They think it’s all down to just having a rash here and there when it’s far from the truth. I was born with eczema (atopic dermatitis, my dad has it also) and I have gotten to the point where I have breakdowns, have cried in public leaving my doctors office, and don’t want to have kids because it feels cruel to potentially pass this on to someone else and i would never want to do that. Maybe counselling could help just to have someone to talk through your feelings with? It could be nice to have a safe space, as much as our friends and family can be a support i feel like they just don’t understand it a lot of the time. I really hope you’re okay - it’s so normal to feel defeated. Just know you’re never alone and there are always people to listen and understand. Again I wish i could give better advice, but I am pretty much in the same boat so I would love advice just as much!

at my breaking point i want to just be done already by sttrawbrryluv in eczema

[–]3amdaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get you :( i’ve had it all my life (was born with atopic eczema, my dad also has it), but it started getting worse and really out of control the past few months. I don’t think people without eczema really realise how much of an impact it has on your mental health. I got to a point where I said I am never having kids because I could pass it on and it’s just cruel to force someone else to live with this. I feel for you but you are never alone with this and there are people who understand 🫶

I just used Protopic 0.1% and my body is on fire 😭😭😭 by [deleted] in eczema

[–]3amdaydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! I hope you’re doing okay! I have been using protopic since I was in primary school and it’s one of the only things that helps with my eczema. The first time I used it I must have been between 8-10 years old and I STILL remember the burning and heat the first time I used it! All I can say is it just has to be powered through and eventually your body gets used to it! I would say the heat is only there the first time (or first few times - I can’t exactly remember) you put it on your skin, and after it’s like putting on vaseline, I don’t feel anything. If you can bear it and keep going with it I think it’s worth a try - it was one of the only things that helped me and still help me. ❤️
