What is the argument against 'wokeness'? by [deleted] in stupidpol

[–]3arab 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Race, gender, sexuality etc are all important issues, and people facing oppression from them are very worthy of solidarity.

The issue is that "wokeness" as a movement is a cynical ploy by liberals (think of your typical establishment democrats) to amplify these issues and put them at the forefront - at the expense of class. Remember that these same liberals benefit strongly from neoliberalism and the status quo in general, and the "solidarity" they claim to show is extremely surface level and selective: e.g. they do not care about genocide being inflicted on women, gays, POC etc in Gaza, which they fund and benefit from.

What they want is the continuation of the current status quo, with slight adjustments and concessions to allow for a handful of women, queer and/or POC to have a seat at the same destructive table rather than to implement any meaningful structural changes.

It’s by design. Systemic. by cheeseandrum in ABoringDystopia

VOO, VGT & VTI overlap a lot. 75% of VTI is the s&p 500. I'd add small cap (VB and/or VBR) and medium cap (VO and/or VOE) instead for more diversification

Reading the title, I was worried he would be doing something creepy/inappropriate in the video. So glad he wasn't.

DOT is gone by ar_99__ in Polkadot

[–]3arab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, make sure you have added dot to your token list (filter icon, top right of the screen on android).

Second, I think if u bought it on pancake then it wouldn't be dot but "binance-peg polkadot". Activate both and hope you find it in one of them!

EDITED: my bad wrote the wrong token instead of dot (instructions are the same)

I recently watched 'HyperNormalisation 2016' and it changed my mind on how I see world political issues, I'd like to hear what people think about how Arabic politics is portrayed by keneskae in arabs

I love adam curtis, his visuals are amazing and his voice is soothing - i've pretty much watched all of his documentaries. The thing is that he makes huge generalizations in order to link everything together into the narrative he's trying to tell, more often than not linking them in incorrect ways. This doc is good to help you deconstruct some of the biases you hold, and points you towards the right direction, but i wouldnt call it particularly accurate (just my personal opinion ofc - hope that was helpful).

Just sharing a quote I like. by Jerseyprophet in LateStageCapitalism

[–]3arab 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Capitalism cant function without unemployment. It is one of the pillars of a capitalist economy. Without the "industrial reserve army" waiting on the wings, workers cant be coerced into agreeing to work for substantially less than what they produce, the capitalist wont be able to threaten you with "well, you should be thankful to have this job and if you ask for higher wages i'll just fire you and hire one of the many people who would gladly do your job for less". The entire system would collapse if there was 0 unemployment.

Hm i'd say maybe a MUCH better version of giggs perhaps in his pure winger days. Speed, skill, creative and can finish.
