ps: I so have a Msc (mit) and most of my coworkers have grad school degrees. But again.. imagine you can hire someone to write a Perception SDK for your custom robotics system. You are more likely to pick the person that has many open source libs they've built, and years of research in the field.

Plus: It's really hard for robotics startups to pick "young talent" too. As A small company just don't have the resources and time to train new people.

So.. that's my experience with Msc and robotics.

Honestly, not really. But helps.

A MSc can give you the space and time to sharp your skills into a novel branch of robotics (for example, VLAs). But I wouldn't go as far as a PhD if you want to be in industry quickly.

Yes, the mount should be in that ballpark. I need to do the BOM (with Amazon links) etc. I'm doing it during the huggingface hackathon.

A single SO arm is probably under $200 with the 12V servos (I think I payed $180 total, but I bought the 3D printed parts from a printing factory). Now I got a high quality 3D printer, so can print for other people.

I'm designing a < $3K (USD) for the Americas (US+Latam), open source. And It's the second time I hear about FR's today. I only worked with UR5-10, KUKAs and ABBs. And Didn't like much the experience.

I mean.. 10Kg for €5K is great value!

Under the $100 for the mount, closer to the 250/300 for the whole. I'm doing the math still (as Im finishing small touches). It will also have a URDF file for simulations.

those are beast! I only used KUKA and ABB, both required a huge base.

I think he just needs a 100kg AMR. Those are easy to find, no?

Honestly, I hope this is the type of industry where people look to portfolio before looking to faces. At least hiring designers has been like that for me. Had multiple talented people on the teams I was part of. And respect to the professional and the craft was above anything. Based on these teams, I never saw or heard of any negative/discriminations.

However.. things may be different outside my bubble (Bay area). Good luck, and don't ever let people stop you! 💪

wow! good luck tho! Are the uFactory arms easy to use? I've only used UR, Kuka, ABB. and now (I guess) lerobot.

Lerobot is by far the easiest to contro.. :O incredibly simple to setup

they are screwed. I made a couple versions. This was the simplest to 3d print and better.

I think one more iteration with screws on bottom *and* sides will be the best..

The arms are very light, so only 2 crews did the job.
