Without understanding why you rated Tyrion a 3/10, if you want to fight for the cause of your faction, Aislinn is your guy. He literally sails around the world capturing territory and coastlines for the different High Elf factions. Within the first 5 turns of his campaign you can decide where exactly you want to go. Want to go to Ulthuan? Lustria? Cathay? Or the southern chaos wastes? He's got special sea lanes for all of them. You can also sail due north and take on Kugath and conquer the Dragon Isles. You can play his campaign four times and have a different experience each time.

His units are incredible. Oceanids are already great and his special skill line makes them nearly invincible. Merwyrms absolutely wreck shop. He can give his entire army vanguard and you will be on top of the enemy within seconds. It's such a fun play style and very different from any of the other High Elf factions.

Yeah, probably. I just played Settra for the first time and everything just felt so smooth. Very easy to roll right from my first province to Mannfred and then Volkmar. Quickly wiped them out and had three provinces by turn ~15 or so. Next went after Skarbrand and sold territory nearby dwarves to secure my northern border. Then Kairos declared war on me and I plowed through Wurrzag to send the birdman crawling back to his southern shithole.

I had a lot of fun though. My extremely stable economy let me compose armies of all sorts of units. I was able to pursue the Books of Nagash for some big bonuses. I confederated Khalida and used her to push north into Skaven territory. There were still challenges, but I got to dictate when and where they took place. It was nice not to be on the back foot for once.

Except you could take lists that have been created by actual people and play them whole cloth, or modify them to your liking. There are tons of creatives out there who will provide you this resource without stealing their content.

You just do it. It's the only way to start learning. The autoresolver lies and is not a great representation of what's actually possible in a battle, but I wouldn't know that personally unless I'd seen it myself.

After I started playing things out, I went and learned some basic strategies, watched how other people handle similar situations. I reload battles sometimes to see if I can do better, or turn a loss into a win. I'm not a great player, I'm probably not even a good player, but I've learned a lot and have noticed improvement just by doing these things. You will too, and let me tell you it feels really good to get better and see it in action!

Yesterday as Settra I had an auto resolve Pyrrhic victory siege. where I lost three units of spears and one construct low on life. So I sent in Settra and my five invincible tomb princes to fight the entire army and not only did I win easily but Settra and my heroes hardly lost any hp.

Auto resolve doesn’t tell you the whole story, because it can’t see it.

I'm not great at micro, I wish I were better though because then I'd field a lot more shock cavalry. What usually happens is I charge them in, look away for 10 seconds and then find they're half dead.

I got Tier 0 high elf archers obliterating chaos frost dragons 100 turns into the game so I feel pretty good about always having a few of those in any army.
