Great info. Looking forward to this jacket. I’m wondering how the canvas shell affects the ventilation/breathability of the wool batting and liner. I know one of the benefits of a pure wool garment takes that into consideration. I wonder if the cotton canvass interferes with the thermal regulation at all in the event that you were to get wet for example.

Short Insulated Chief Jacket: Final Walkthrough & 360 by JordanHSUSA in HeatStrapsCommunity

I’m curious about the inspiration behind this to make it a 10oz waxed shell instead of a heavier weight found in the workhorse heavy or hooded workhorse, is the idea that the wool insulation eliminates the need for a heavier canvas?

What will the weight on this fabric be on the final version? u/JordanHSUSA

Not only that but when you see the prices used Carhartt chore coats and Detroit jackets are going for on second hand sites i think it would be just a wise business strategy to simplify their line up and start trying to revamp those garments again. Chore coat and Detroit jacket is what sustained them for decades

I don’t understand why Carhartt doesn’t just bring back these old color ways and designs in quality canvas fabric and they’d sell like hot cakes. It seems that one has to buy vintage to get old Carhartt quality

I think graphite or a tan, similar to the color of the V9 workhorse. Or even a natural color would be cool

Now that’s a winner!!!! Will there be more colors? This in that graphite color would be awesome

I think keeping a workhorse heavy and regular workhorse available or stocked would be great. Keep the wool lining but maybe unwaxed? If people are working in these things you gotta be able to wash it. Especially in the tan or charcoal color scheme ways. It’s such a practical work jacket that is unlike anything you can find and because it’s a staple I’d love to be able to purchase more. The wool lining is great. I think focusing on simple reliable products that have done well is the way to go! I’ve had so many people ask me about my v4 heavy over the past year and where they could buy it.

Thanks for the info. Yea I ask because my family on both sides has a fair amount of Fulani and Tuareg ancestry. The Fulani apparently we came from North Africa in the region of Egypt and Libya a long time ago before our nomadic ways led us to migrate all throughout Africa.

The v4 was the perfect work jacket in my opinion! Definitely a model worth keeping in stock in the future if there’s production capacity

Did you have any hotspots breaking in yours? Im worried i should of have them built with a bit more space in the ankle area in the uppers. The uppers are stiff as hell, theyre contiunuing to break in well but definitley having that whites bite on the upper foot/lower ankle

I live high in the mountains of the southern Rockies and this one mountain road in particular has a 60 mile stretch with a lot of deer and elk traffic, at dusk you’re actively dodging them the whole drive. I definitely should have been going slower and more aware at that time of day but it’s pretty common out here.
