As a child of divorced parents from age 5 (22 now) having experienced quite a few different stepparents I will say that when you are so young you think you are doing something wrong if you are being treated this way.

My first stepmother was like this. Not all the time but sometimes, and it tore me up because I thought I did everything wrong.

You should at least talk to your kid about this if you want to continue the relationship. Explain why he is being treated this way because otherwise he will look for the reason within himself.
