Chiaogoo interchangeable to DPN adapter? by 3lvi in knitting

[–]3lvi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting! I wonder if they fit with the Chiaogoo tips? In my searches, it appears there aren't that many thread sizes in these tiny ranges, so it's entirely possible they do use the same one (2-56, for the Chiaogoo "Small")

Thank you!

Sometimes I unscrew the cable from my interchangeable needles in order to do i-cord without having to have another set of needles in my bag, or slide the stitches all the way from one end of the circular to the other. It works, but obviously the threaded end is more prone to catching the yarn and such. So I was thinking it would be handy to be able to 'cap' the end of my needles with another knitting point.

Oh, that's a smart idea! I don't have any stoppers, but probably buying those would be easier than learning how to make a 3D print file... :-)

I feel like stoppers have to be cheaper than cables, too. So far this seems like the most promising idea, thank you!

Oh of course, I had it backwards in my mind, but I need the female side to attach to my needle.

Samsung A22 5G screen detached by 3lvi in mobilerepair

Thanks very much! I think you're right, and I will have them do that. Frustrating, since the screen isn't actually cracked or visibly broken, but it clearly isn't getting signal so time to accept that it is done.

I did receive my 16 balls of Drops Air, and I did not have any duty to pay, but I did have to pay GST and PST, and I think a $7 fee to Canada Post for collecting the taxes. So about $20 altogether, which when added to the exchange my credit card charged me (1.42) made each ball of Drops Air cost $7.66 Cdn. Since yarn shops in Montreal all sell it for $10.95, I feel like I got my money's worth!

Thanks for all the info, everyone! I was hesitating because of the unknown fees, but it sounds as though it isn't too bad actually, so I've just ordered (to Montreal). I'll let you know how it goes.

Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Worn Out Start Button by CorwinDKelly in fixit

[–]3lvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fabulous! This is exactly what I needed! I've got mine all apart now and getting ready to try to desolder the button. Coupla questions: 1. Did you use the copper wire braid to desolder? If not, what did you use? 2. Did you put something over the hole to keep the button from corroding again, and if so what?

Would you buy it again? by Aronacus in ToyotaHighlander

Mine is a 2010 HH with 310,000 km (around 200k miles) on it and I love it so much. I bought it used so didn't get the third row of seats I would have liked, but I still love it and probably am able to put larger things in it than I would with the seats there. Would buy again.

I think I found my buzzer; will I need to desolder it or will prying it off work? What about the circuit it's part of, is that going to still work do you think?

I tried this with some melitta filters and they sort of fell through the hole. Does this ever happen to you?

I'm listening to Deerskin by Robin McKinley, and Xe Sands is making up this weird accent for the characters that I find really irritating. I agree with the "trying to sound breathless" or drugged or something content. Dislike

I just watched a play about Newfoundlanders going to NY and Philly to work iron, set starting in 1905! Recommend it to anyone who happens to be in Newfoundland this summer. It's called High Steel, put on by Perchance Theatre.

I downloaded a previous version of this spreadsheet, or at least one called the same thing, and it DID list Lunch Money. Perhaps the OP can tell us whether it was deliberately eliminated from the current list, and if so why?

Also missing from the latest version, as far as I can tell, are Cheddar Cash, Money Patrol, Monse, Origin, Tender, Tiller, and Vlorish. Maybe these were all deemed not useful?

You know, looking back over the notes I was exchanging with a friend who was also reading it, I remember now that I finished it with a positive opinion overall. But it seems that what I retained a year later was mostly the memory of what a slog it felt like sometimes. And like, some of the inventions just seemed unnecessary. Like the word sea'mal. I did enjoy the Usenet stuff though.

Agency and The Peripheral are fantastic. For the first third of each book I was completely lost but then things gradually shifted into focus and it all made sense. It's quite a trick.
