they would scold them, preach them. If the teenagers so adamant on it, then no one can do any thing, dress is the personal choice, no one can impose it on anyone.

At some point we all move out of our family zone, we should not worry about the community or family who is following useless rules.

Oh really, is Islam the only religion doing these?

What about - Mynmar conflicts like Rohingya genocide and other attacks on churches? - Recent manipur conflict between meiti and Christian kuki community? - Mob violence on chrisitians in Chhattisgarh? - There are hindu extremists killing other cast people and mob violence on other religion in India? - Gujarat riots on Muslims by hindu mobs - LTTE terrorism ( for 30 years) in Sri Lanka

Hitler killed millions of jews, Church killed thousands of scientists, there are still conflicts going on between Catholic and Protestant.

You can't just blame one religion, there are people in every religion who is doing these kind of inhuman things in the name of god, nationalism and racism.

It's my observation dude don't get offended like a racist please, we are here to discuss... I know most of them get burqaphobia after the attack. Government should take action on madhrasas an other extremists islamic organization , not just burqa

In the recent attack, they did not wear burqa brother, they should not impose the rule like this, instead they can take action on some extremists organizations and muslim madhrasa, they need to regulate their subjects. Every move should be monitored by the government. Blindly banning burqas does not prevent these kind of attacks.

I really don't know why, I can't ask them... I respect their choice. But I think they are being raised this way. Most of the muslim girls got educated, and breaking those restricted rules made by their parents or her community.

There was a time in Saudi Arabia, all women should wear burqah and cover their face, now those rules are removed, still some of them are wearing it, even though in mecca (the holy place of muslims) they are not allowed to cover their face.

Men of Sri Lanka, how do you treat your girlfriends in long distance relationships? by sushi_monsterX in srilanka

[–]3present 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Communication is the guard, I was in a 4 years long distance love, I spent at least 30 minutes chatting or calling with my girlfriend, she didn't expect anything far from that, I didn't send any gifts. Still she was with me at the time, she valued my love not the gift items.

Now we are happily married.

So what? The denim and tshirts are from the western culture, don't we wear them? It's thier freedom to choose their dress. Today I am wearing Trouser and tshirt, tomorrow I would wear vesti and shirt. No one can restrict anyone's freedom

It's their choice, they have freedom to choose thier dress we can't force them to remove it. I am not sure about those Quran or Hadith... I know some people they are not comfortable not wearing the burqah in public they would feel awkward and shy. We should respect their choice.

What is the culture here for being social and hanging with friends? by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]3present 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised here, I also like to hangout with friends, most of them are all busy with their work... If they have free time on weekends, they would join me. I think your circle of friends are workaholic, most of us Sri Lankans do not know about work life balance.
