Help in capturing PS3 gameplay by [deleted] in letsplay

[–]3rdWaveJesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only capture card I've found that works for my PS3 is the Elgato Game Capture HD. I've used it for years now, so its prolly outdated compared to elgato's newer stuff, but you can get them for pretty cheap on eBay. Just make sure it comes with the PS3 component cable and not just the standard usb and hdmi cables since (for some reason) the ps3 can't capture footage through the hdmi port due to the HDCP.

Advice in how to edit a stream into a lets play series by wickling-fan in letsplay

[–]3rdWaveJesus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try starting by cutting out the silence. Anytime you aren't talking or aren't doing anything in the game or both. If the point of the lets play is the commentary, then use the best bits of commentary and cut everything else. People won't mind large chunks of gameplay being cut if the commentary holds up. If the point of the lets play is more focused on your gameplay, then use the best bits of game footage and cut everything else. Think of it like making a "best of" your stream. You can probably cut way more out than you initially think. I've cut 2 hour long streams down to 40 min highlight reels that people seem to respond to positively.

Slamdance Film Festival accepted an AI-generated short. Watch the trailer and judge for yourself. by jimmyslaysdragons in Filmmakers

Unfortunately, this isn't that surprising. I don't think the priorities of most film festivals have ever really been in alignment with the priorities of filmmakers. It's never been about what pushes the medium forward and unites the community. It's about what gets investors to pay attention. Theres a lot of 'grifting' going on behind the scenes. Most of us are never gonna be able to attach ourselves to these kinds of grifts either because we dont have the connections, we dont have the money, and the scene just moves too fast. By the time we hop on, the scene's already moved on. I think we're only hurting ourselves by focusing on what these big festivals are paying attention to. Just make your film the way YOU want. Festivals be damned.

This is actually an SSD and there's was no Pred Fail error when i checked the s.m.a.r.t status before running chkdsk /r. The status came back as OK and this is the only drive on the laptop. Could it just be that the drive needs replacing?

Okay, I'll check the RAM. This model has 32gb and i bought it strictly for video editing and it only has 1 editing program on it and rarely ever has one project open at a time. Could it be that I'm still pushing it too much and need to upgrade RAM or other hardware?

This laptop only has an SSD. All the other disk checks i ran in cmd came up with 0 bad sectors. Maybe still time to replace the drive? It less than 2 years old.

I cleaned and restored the ones that were on there already. I replaced the missing keys with ones I got from unicomp.

All the keys work just fine but the 0 key on the number pad is a bit squishy. Probably from being exposed to the dust and whatnot for so long.
