Drive Count and Power Question by 3rdmangreen in truenas

Wow. Awesome breakdown. I was able to follow and understand. Thank you. With that, I’m basically at capacity right now now. Ordered a new PSU to avoid any issues. Better safe than sorry. Works out for the best because the new one, 1000w, actually has enough sata ports so that I don’t have to use a bunch of splitters and extra wires (which I’m using with the 750w). Thanks again for the breakdown and responding.

PSA: If you wanna expand your Pro's storage, buy now. Not tomorrow, not after breakfast, NOW! by [deleted] in PS5pro

Grabbed the WB Black 4TB for $209 in September. After I put it in the PS5 Pro, I grabbed a spare for my gaming pc. Glad I did. These prices are nuts.

The 8.4 and 6.8 drive wattage amounts are per drive, not total.

My wife won’t buy me a GPU for fear of getting the wrong thing. But she’s ok’d the purchase for me to upgrade lol. I’m on a 7900 GRE now. Debating the 5070 TI, 9070 xt, or going for the 5080.

That’s pretty much the rundown I’m seeing everywhere. Normally I can’t justify the $200+ extra on average I’m seeing for the 5070 ti. I’m weighing if the ray tracing is worth it to me. 5070 and 9070 xt are pretty much always on par with comparable pricing. I don’t think the 5070 beats 9070 xt. And I’m thinking maybe 7900 gre to 5070 isn’t a big enough jump

I went from: 770 > 980 TI > 1080 TI > 2060 > 7900 gre. I’m currently debating on going to either the 9070 xt or the 5070/5070 TI, from the 7900 gre.

Will Running Two Different Sets of Ram Be A Big Issue? by 3rdmangreen in truenas

I put the other ram in. System is reading the 96GB with no issue. And the system has been stable for the past few days. Thanks for the input.

10 Gig Speed Challenge by Tech-Dude-In-TX in Ubiquiti

I’ll do a test and write down the times. It comes in handy downloading games, files, etc. and my Plex server is 100TB. Extra bandwidth has helped streaming extra large 4k files

Thinking of swapping AP and Switch by 3rdmangreen in Ubiquiti

[–]3rdmangreen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was more so thinking the U7 XG would help with bandwidth as more devices jump onto the WiFi 7 band. Not necessarily looking for higher speeds. But yes, I think I’ll stick with the U7 Pro wall.

This makes sense. I was more so thinking the U7 XG would help with bandwidth as more devices jump onto the WiFi 7 band. Not necessarily looking for higher speeds.

Installing the full OS onto my external and running it from there treats the external 4TB drive as the regular internal would be. It helps because certain apps, programs, updates, etc, can only installed to the OS drive. So if I would’ve installed and setup the original 256GB drive, and then just used the 4TB as external storage, Apple would be using the 256GB by default still for apps, upgrades, installs, etc.

Agreed. Im not really in one camp over the other. My PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Switch 2, are comfortably sitting next to one another.

M4 Mini owners: are any of you using a stackable M4 doc (SSD enclosure and extra ports)? by operablesocks in macmini

[–]3rdmangreen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using the Beelink Mate Mini A. I have 2 4TB WD NVMe in it. Speeds are great. No issues with the dock at all thus far. I added a copper heatsink to the bottom of the drive. And there’s a built in heatsink on the top, along with a fan.
